Exact same scenario 3 weeks ago (but im 15).
Let your perents take you through check in, security and let them take you to your gate (if they can..im in Australia, our rules let anyone go up to the gates) and then 10 minitues before you have to board, say your 1st goodbyes to them.
When you board, if not already arranged, a flight attendant will ask you if you want to be escorted off the plane (last off may I add) and be taken to the meeting point where you will met your grnadmar or if you want to get off at the same time as everyone else and find your way to grandmar once you get off (by yourself).
Dont be nervious about the actual flight itself. Its like flying with your perents but they cant stop you from having/buying something when the flight attendants come around!
Even if you get escorted on the way to grandmars, you may be a little more confident so when you come home, you can have a go at getting on and off your self!
Once you do that, you will see how easy it is to travel. Being able to travel alone at 13 is a big responseability so aslong you dont chicken out, your perents should be realy proud of you! |

You'll be fine, you get the royal treatment by the flight crew. They will take care of you and make sure you are safe. If you know the airline you are going to fly on, check there website, sometimes they tell you what to expect. |

You have nothing to worry about. I was a Flight Attendant, you will be accompanied by an adult the entire time. The Flight Attendants know you're by yourself (it's in their paper work). Best wishes! |

Last year I was a minor (at 14) and now I'm 15. I go to California alone every summer to visit my best friend.
There is absolutely nothing to worry about. As soon as you get there, there is a flight attendant or a security guard by your side. When you are on the plane, they make special trips to come and make sure you are comfortable. They make you get off the plane last, though, so they can keep track of all the unaccompanied minors. When you get off the plane you are greeted by an airport attendant (i'm not sure what they're called, lol), and they walk you to the unaccompanied minors room, where you wait with several other minors only if you are connecting.
When it is time for your flight (which you don't have to worry about, they handle everything for you including your boarding passes, and if you miss your flight for some reason, they were quick to get you on your next one. You are their first prority), they will take you to your terminal and you get to get on the plane first. They hand you over to the flight attendant that will be taking care of you for the whole flight.
Then, when you get off (last again), the flight attendant (or "airport attendant") will take you to your grandma, who will be waiting for you there. She will help you get your luggage, etc...
It's actually pretty fun! You get to feel independent and stuff :] |

I flew to the West Coast when I was 14 by myself, and it was a lot of fun. Relax, stay alert and enjoy yourself. |
