Yes, i recently went to Myrtle Beach and had a stop-over.
They DO transport your baggage for you from one plane to another to make sure there is less confusion.

Although, many people often lose their baggage because the people put it on the wrong plane!
If they do, they will ship it to your trip location!

ALWAYS- have some clothing on your carry-on luggage!
you can never be too sure! My grandparents lost their luggage on a stop-over and it was transported to them a week later in Italy!
Luckily they had extra clothing!

don't worry, it should make it through to your final destination. when you check your bag(s), they will put a loop of paper through each piece of luggage. know you destination airport code (JKF, LAX, etc) and make sure that tag has your final stop on it. even if you have to change carriers or if your flight is switched en-route, your bags should make it eventually.

make sure you have ~one hour between connecting flights and you should be ok. if your connection is delayed and you literally have to run for the next flight, there's a chance your bags will catch the next flight.

They almost always check your bags straight through to your final destination, sometimes if your changing carriers or going international there may be a glich. Simply ask the agent that checks you if your bags are checked to your final destination.

now if it the same airline (like from Charlotte to Los Angeles
and it makes a stop say in Phoenix
you stay on the plane and you and your luggage stay put
both the plane will then continued to the next stop
you don't have to claim your bag and hav to recheck on the same plane
now that's only for a direct flight
if you have to change planes and its the same airline then yes
the bags will be transferred now if they are different
airlines if they have a code-share/or affinity deal or inter-line agreement
the bags will be transfer for you
if they don't (ie Southwest and Virgain american don't
have inter-line agreements then you will have to claim the bags and recheck them with the other airlines

They transfer it for you. if you are switching planes then a lot of times their is hardly time to run to the next one, let alone wait at baggage claim for an hour.

I'm not sure exactly how they do it, and sometimes luggage will get lost (in which case you usually will get it back within a day anyway) but it is indeed true. they do it for you.

Although if I may make a suggestion... Whether switching plane's or not there is always a chance of having your luggage sent to the wrong place or lost, they handle a lot of stuff it's gotta happen once in a while. So always pack an extra outfit and some toiletries in your carry on, Just in case you can't get your baggage until the next day. :D

they transfer i for you, they just throw it back on them stoopid baggage cart things then throw it in the back of the next plane

The real is answer is it depends!

If you are flying on one ticket and domestically then yes. If you are flying on an international flight into the US then you need to claim your bag after immigration, clear customs with it, then put it on the belt for transit bags.

yes they transfer but check to be sure with the attendants b/c sometimes it ends up on the following plane and you have to end up going back to the airport (at your destination) to get it. make sure you mark your bags with appropriate info.

Depends. If you are flying within the US, then the baggage gets transferred automatically, although as one poster mentioned, if you have less than 1 hour between flights, it may well go on the next flight out (that's what happened to me coming from O'Hare - Chicago - and home - Allentown, PA. They delivered my luggage the next day).
From the US to Canada, for example (basically when you go through customs), you must go through customs, get your luggage, and then put it back on a baggage belt to be transferred to your connecting flight. It's a bit of a pain, quite frankly!

once they give you ur ticket and put ur luggage on the first plane...they will transfer all the bags....u may want to check with ur airline, but u shud be fine...HAVE FUN :D

If your useing the same company for both flights then they should do it for you but if you have two differnt companys then you must fetch your bagage btween your flights.
