At present you just need a proof of identity (like your Canadian driver's license) and a prove of citizenship (like your Canadian birth certificate) to drive from Canada to Buffalo, NY. For a domestic flight within the U.S. Canadian citizens just need a proof of ID which may be the driver's license. Please be aware of the fact that this statement concerning the border crossing will not be valid after June 1, 2009.

You will need an ID. So what ID will you use if not a passport?

potatochip
I would bring the passport because you may need it. You will have to show a photo ID when you fly and if you are a Canadian citizen, you will most likely present a Canadian government issued picture ID. Therefore you may be required to show your passport. Therefore to be on the safe side, bring your passport. Better to err on the conservative side.

Hell no your in the Us already lol dont need a passport... just an id :) youll be good

I flew from Buffalo to LA a few times recently, and I am a Canadian citizen from niagara falls (few miles away from Buffalo) and you do need a passport

However this was not always the case, few years ago, you did not need a passport to do this

But Jane should get the answer, she works in the biz

Canadian citizens flying between a Canadian and American airport require a valid passport. This rule is new as of January 2007, under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

The website is: http://www.getyouhome.gov/

Yes you will it is stated in the below link on Canadian travel in the US. Unless you have a NEXUS card then a passport will be needed. Since you will be traveling throughout the US you will need a passport. It helps the government keep track of who is where and such.

Stricter requirements will be used when traveling by car into the US as well in the summer of 2009 around JUNE. You will no longer be able to just show your Canadian ID, you will need a passport as well. So to your answer YES you will need a passport not just your Canadian ID.

on first glance, it seems like you would not, cause they are both in the us, but if people are telling you that you do, there must be a reason why you might. call the airline and find out for sure.

julez
It shouldnt be since you arent leaving or entering the United States from New York to California.

Call the Airline to be sure. i would think so though, since it's international air travel and they are more restricted now - GL!

Absolutely, to do any flying in the U.S. you need your passport.

This was enacted 2 years ago.
