Flying solo for the first time; tips?

First off, go to the government's travel site and make sure you are up on all the current security regulations for travel, so you are not stuck throwing something out at the airport.

Even if you are only flying across the country, give yourself two hours to check in and get through security before your scheduled departure time. You should also carry a copy of your itinerary.

When you arrive at your layover, find your next departure point as soon as you exit the plane, incase it takes awhile to get there (If your layover is in Chicago, O'Hare is now the 2nd largest airport in the world behind Heathrow in London). Often a flight attendant will announce gate numbers for connecting flights as you are landing. If not, there will be panels of screens in the terminal after you get off the plane. Generally you can follow the crowd for awhile from the plane you were just on. You will also see signs along the way pointing you towards other gates. If you absolutely can't find what you are looking for, stop and ask someone in uniform. There are often police officers or uniformed security scattered throught the airport, and they should know the layout.

Other than that, be aware of your surroundings and keep your belongings close. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

you can look for the online maps of the airports, that way you will know the general distribution and you wonÂ´t feel so lost when you arrive...good luck!

The best thing to do for connecting flights, if you're feeling a little, anxious and unsure, is to ask the gate agent at the gate you arrive at for directions. On most flights, the flight attendants will give connecting gate information shortly before landing. Although both Chicago and Denver are very large airports, there are lots of signs and maps to help you. You should feel free to stop and ask any gate agent (even if they don't work for your airline) along the way to help you with directions. In almost all cases they will not mind helping you out at all.

If you going to take a taxi to get to your destination after you arrive, you should make sure you get on the legilimate taxi. There are "car service" out there that like to rip people off. I am from NYC and there are many of those "car service" people that try to catch you inside the gate and if you ride with them they charge 3-5 times the price you wouldve pay for a regular taxi. So i guess make sure you ask workers and look for "real" taxi stands and dont get rip off. Good luck!! and have fun!!!

D.I.A Is very user friendly, But yes be there a few hours early,and relax . You'll be fine there is usually a airport employee every 20 feet I am sure you will get help in the right direction. Also Just Look up a lot at the signs and watch for the color coding on them that should help a lot as well . And Happy Flying!

get to the airport a little early, maybe a couple hours since the Denver airport is huge

Both Denver and Colorado Springs air ports are easy to get around in. They are both well marked and I have never had a problem with either one of them. The Denver air port is quite a lot larger than the Colorado Springs air port. Make sure you allow yourself extra time so you won't have to rush. This is why most people experience stress in air ports. Since you are not used to flying regularly I would recommend taking reading material and a couple of snacks. I also wear loose comfortable clothes when flying.

1. Get at the airport early
2. Don't pack anything in your carry-on that contains liquid even eyeliner or foundation.
3. Be parpared to take your shoes off.
4. Keep your Id in your back pocket and ticket in your hand
5. When boarding the plane chew a piece of gum and split it in two pieces and chew on each side simatiamously. To avoid your ears hurting for take off.
6. Have fun and remember that one alcoholic drink in the sky is equal to 3 on the ground.

So have a drink and a safe trip.
