Well I travel quite a bit as well as have out of state visitors and we have always meet one of two places.
1)at baggage claim
or
2)Right at the exit where you leave the secured area ,if they know your info they will know where to go gate wise.
If you have a cell phone you are allowed to make calls right when the plane lands so you can try to see which one they are at then.
I know some other people wait at the auto area in passenger loading/unloading zone at the terminal as well,These are all usually marked airline specific.
You don't need to get your luggage before you meet them,it usually takes a bit for them to unload it from the plane and it get going on the conveyor anyways.
Good Luck and I hope you have fun. |

They probably won't be able to get past security without a ticket so they'll probably be waiting somewhere near the ticket booths or outside of the terminal gates area. You will probably be able to meet up with them before you go and get your luggage. It's going to take the crew a good 20 minutes to get everyones' luggage off the plain and start sending it out on the conveyer belt. |

Well, based on what I've seen in movies and on tv...they will be waiting just after you walk off the plain...they will be holding up a sign with your name and you'll run to them and embrace...then you'll go for your luggage, but you'll find that the airline lost it and you'll never get it back. |

Depends which airport you're at and whether it's an international or domestic flight.
Usually airports are made in a way where you pick up your luggage at a carousel before exiting the arrivals area into a main concourse. You're likely to find your friends waiting there. |

they won't be able to meet you at the gate due to security. probably, they will either wait just outside the security checkpoint, or at the baggage claim. if you can get in touch with them after you get off the plane, you can find out where they are. if they ask where to meet you, it's easy to meet at the baggage claim carousel, because there will be lots of signs to help you get there, and you have to go there anyway to get your bags! |

They can't get past security so they'll be waiting outside the security check point. If possible, call them before you leave for the airport and have them meet you at baggage claim.
Follow people off of the plane. When you get to the airport gate look for signs for baggage claim. Go to baggage claim (it takes about 10 minutes or more to get your baggage off the conveyor). If you have trouble finding baggage claim, you can stop and ask someone or follow the people who came from your flight. They're all going to the same place. |

ussually they don't let people without tickets past security, so they will not be right there when you get off the plane. You will have to go past the security, and depending on how your arriving city airport is laid out you may or may not get your luggage before they meet up with you. Try to find out where they will meet you (by the starbucks coffee stand, or right next to security) that way if they are not right there you know to wait there for them. |

Tell them to meet you outside the gate. When you come out of the gate they will see you and you can all go to the luggage claims together. They can't meet you at the door anymore since they can't get by the gate due to security. |
