Definitely Gatwick!
Gatwick is connected to London better by economical rail services than Heathrow.
You can:
* use the expensive and overpriced Gatwick Express into London Victoria.
* use normal Southern trains into London Victoria
* use normal First Capital Connect Services into London Bridge, London Blackfriars or London Kings Cross Thameslink.
Rail information avaialble from http://www.nationalrail.co.uk and http://www.thetrainline.com .
London Tube and bus information from http://www.tfl.gov.uk/journeyplanner .
I hope this is helpful.

Go for Gatwick I reckon. It has its own train station and trains that go direct to London Victoria every 10/15 minutes or so. You'll save a lot of money and it's just as easy. From Heathrow trains into London Paddington only take about 10 minutes less time so it definitely doesn't seem worth it.
EDIT:
Use http://www.thetrainline.com/default.asp?href=&T2ID=5375_20081290575 - it tells you train times and prices. Choose London (any) to get the most options.
Hope this helps! |

There is a train from Gatwick straight into London Victoria I think. Heathrow is the tube which takes about an hour |

Go for the cheap airfare and go from Gatwick. You can probably get into town for less than 30 pounds on a nice train but do some research on Gatwick Express and other less expensive options (bus, slow train) by looking at the Gatwick website. You can't beat a 35pound airfare.
Can't help with the hotels or hostels other than to say to troll websites.
Have fun! |

Look at where you need to be? Is it really that obvious? Who cares about money, christ, you're not saving a great deal. London Centre is London Heathrow. Book the Aer Lingus, because if you fly into Gatwick and have to be in the centre that would just be stupid and you will need to spend the money that you think you are "saving" for a train ticket anyway. |

The O2 is in Greenwich, so miles from Gatwick and heathrow! The Gatwick express is about £12 and goes to Victoria Station, a really good service, takes 1/2 hour. Then you need to get to Greenwich, which is easy.
Heathrow is nearer, it's on the tube which also goes right into town, and will be about £4, takes about 40 mins.
Hotels in London are very expensive wherever you go. Unfortunately I don't know exactly how much, or which ones are good as I live here.
Hope that sort of helps! I would get the cheaper flight to Gatwick and then the express. Spend what you save going to heathrow on a hotel!

Gatwick is not too much of a hassle- just get on a train to London Bridge- I think its about 45 mins. From Heathrow you need to take the tube (you can also take a train, but they are quite expensive)- that will also be the same, if not longer. Have a look at www.tfl.gov.uk that will have all London travel info.
Hope this helped. |

Gatwick has a non-stop train service to Victoria, so it couldn't be easier. From Heathrow there is an Express train to Paddington which is very expensive or the underground which is very slow. I'd personally choose Gatwick every time. |

To get to the 02, either airport is easy.
For the London Centre, I'd say London Gatwick because of the Gatwick Express to London Victoria.
Ι'd say Gatwick because its smaller and not as congested as Heathrow.
I work in Gatwick for British Airways and I find it FAR easier to fly from Gatwick.
Have a nice time! |
