Hand luggage?

I know you are not allowed it but I'm flying on Saturday. What can I take in a clear bag apart from passport and travel docs? Can I take my mobile phone, iPod, camera or do they need to go in my suitcase? What about a purse/wallet? I know it's been on the news all day but everybody tells a different story!!!

THE QUESTIONER IS ASKING ABOUT THE UK, NOT THE US.

You can have your purse but you CANNOT have you mobile, ipod or camera, they must go in your suitcase.

See the Home Office advice for full details:

Yup, I keep hearing different things, too. Your best bet is to call the airline or the airport you're flying out of, to get the rules straight from the source.

welshwife
you can only take your tavel doc's and a small amount of money. everything else inc your moblie has to go in your suitcase. phones can be detonators for bombs and this is why you xcant take them

ribena
Mobile in the case, SWITCHED OFF, no camera, no electrical goods unless the batteries are out and in the case. Wallet is fine but be prepared for searching. No liquids, no water, must purchase them on board.

toomanysecrets79
I think they need to go in your suitcase maybe it varies on where you are going.

tip to conserve breakables in your regular luggage
try putting them in the middle of your towels worked for me every time

I just called SFO airport because I am traveling tomorrow. They told me you can take your hand luggage AS LONG AS you don't carry any liquids or gels such as personal care items, makeup, juice, wine, etc. So computers, electronics and that stuff are still OK. The thing is, they are going to inspect everyone's bags so get there at least 4 hours ahead of your flight.

NO ipods, cameras, mobiles phones...nothing electronic as it could be converted into a remote detonator. No glass cases, presumably because they are believed to be a component of a bomb.

The only problem I foresee is the ban on pens unless the airlines issue immigration and customs forms to fill in before embarkation.

id imagine none of them are alowwed as for your wallet i cant c y they wouldnt allow you to put that into the bag, cos wjat would happen if u put ur ipod in suitcase ann ur suitcase got missplaced or something, i think its gointg to be very strict from here on in just essentials

You can take camera, cell phone, I pod, (all of these are OK on carry on, unless you are traveling internationally). No liquids are allowed on carry on luggage like: hair gel, shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, toothpaste, some makeup, bottled water, and other liquid type stuff.

Your id, passport/picture id /birth certificate can go in your carryon along with any medications as long as they are in the original bottle and the inspectors can match your name on your id with the meds. No electronic devices in your carryon , they have to be packed in your luggage and checked. No bottles of water, juice, coffee, shampoo, makeup, sun block, anything with liquid can be in the carryon. If you're travelling with babies, no liquid milk in bottles, they'll have to taste it if you do. Juices are ok but you have to have a baby with you to get away it.

You should probably go to your department of transportation site and look at the list.

Better to be safe than having to pitch everything.

Oh yeah they want your stuff in a clear plastic bag rather than a purse, unless your purse is clear see through plastic.

Beetle bug
Depends on the place you are flying to and flying from. Till midnight on monday...UK airports were not allowing mobiles, laptops, etc as hand baggage. Heard that has been eased now. Liquids are not allowed

Foolish_cheese
I wish you luck. The way things are at the moment are very frustrating for the passengers.

I would do as the other Answers Lady said and try and call in advance. Perhaps, you could actually pack your toys into the suitcase before you got to the airport and If allowed, then take them out and use them.

Have a nice flight. Hope things are good

They are ok just long as you don't have anything that contains any kind of liquids.
