The first time I flew over the ocean, it bothered me. And, I still don't really care for it. But, what made it easier for me is realizing that the wheels of the plane only touch the earth's surface when it takes off and when it lands. All other times, it is just flying. Regardless whether it is over land or over water.

I hope this helps! Have a great trip!

blahhhhh
yeahhh...lol but it was when i was like eight.....but it is realllyyyyy nothing, after the first 30 minuets you will forget you are even flying over the ocean at all. =]

Yea, don't worry, it's beautiful.

I've done it many times, and it's no more dangerous than flying over land. As someone said above, the ocean looks very pretty from a plane, especially when it sparkles in the sun, but you may not even notice on a flight that long because they'll more than likely be showing movies to keep you from getting too bored.

It's the same as flying over land. if you hit water going over 100 mph, it's just like hitting ground at over 100 mph. Actually it's a little bit worse because the water will grab whatever's trying to skim over it. That being said, if a plane goes down, that company not only looses a couple million for that plane, they loose millions in law suits plus employees. They are going to take every precautionary measure to keep that plane in the air, don't worry.

I have flown over an ocean before and trust me, you will most likely be fine.

Yeah, no big deal. You can't even tell you're over water.

Yes. It's the same as flying over any kind of terrain.
I have flown over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. I have flown over mountainous areas like the Andes of South America.
I am still alive!
If it is not your time to die or if you are not supposed to die in a crash, it will never happen.
Do not be afraid.
If you have faith in God and in Jesus Christ, that's all that matters!
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, then should something happen, you will be with Him in heaven!
You can also pray to God and ask for His protection.
I travel all over the country and the world when I can afford it and I am confident that my God will protect me BUT should something happen, I also know my spirit's destiny and I am not afraid. I wish you know Jesus Christ and have faith in Him, trusting Him to take care of you. Then you can fly with confidence over ocean, mountains or land.

The ocean is really pretty from an airplane, but if you really don't want to think about it, ask for an asile seat. Bring lots of reading material, or anything else you might be interested in. Don't even look out the window at all. Just think about how lucky you are to be going to Australia and the wonderful adventures you will have there. Good luck to you. You will be just fine!

Well, I did that lots of times flying from Italy (where I live) to U.S....it's absolutely not different from every other flying...don't worry!

Yes
People fly every day over the oceans
I just flew back from Lebanon a few weeks ago and to get back to the US i went, over the Atlantic.
Don't worry you should be fine.
Just remember - your seat cushion can be used as a flotation devise.....

It's fine, really! You have nothing to worry about. I flew on Jet Blue & the flight was looooooong, but comfortable. Bring lots of books, magizines, or music to keep you entertained, because the movies suck. & a pillow wouldn't hurt either....

Look at it this way. If you crash it will be a little softer than if you hit hard soil. The water will help cool off the fire too. LOL
