Its not that bad, you will have turbulence, not all of the time is it really bad, but it can get bumpy. But pilots will never fly through something which they think will be dangerous. So any storm you actually fly through will not be that big of a storm anyway. Now while flying at cruise altitude it is very common to fly above and close to very Powerful storms which is always an amazing sight! |

Several times. The most recent was January of this year from Milwaukee to Tampa. There was a severe storm over a lot of the southeast and there was quite a bit of turbulence for a while. I was playing a Gameboy, so I was not that concerned about the storm. I was more concerned about the game I was playing. |

its very scary. the plane shakes violently and its dark. but whats even scarier is flying by a hurricane. I was in a plane above the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and there was a hurricane about 50 miles away and you could see it. i was so freaked out. but seriously planes+storms= terror |

Yes. I flew from South Carolina to Texas. Three of the four hours were through a storm. It was awful. If I hadn't been buckled in, I would have smacked my head on the roof of the airplane several times. It was very rough and scary.
The stewardess was incredible. She really calmed everyone down and explained that we wouldn't have continued flying if they didn't think it was safe.
Since then, I've learned a lot about air travel. Though I hate flying, I know that the bumpiness is just a difference in air density but that there is still air underneath the plane to keep it from falling all the way down.
I trust it enough that you'll find me almost every weekend suffering through several plane rides a day just to open the door and jump out! |

I have... it's reassuring to see the flight crew act so cool and professional. |

its pretty cool. the plane can get hit by lightening and ou wont feel a thing. the whole plane will go dark for a few seconds and then everything will be back to normal. LOTS OF TURBULENCE, which isnt that fun. and you cut trhough the rain... over all i only did it once and it was pretty cool. |
