Has anyone flown with United Airlines?

We are flying to the USA again for our hols and usually go with American Airlines, we're booked on United Airlines this time and I wondered what they were like and do you get fed well?

Sorry to say this but they are the worst long haul airline I have ever flown with.
My complaints were:
On a ten hour flight to LA, we received our meal, which was nice but not really sustantial an hour into the flight. There was then nothing until the last hour before landing and that was only a disgusting pita bread thing. We therefore had no food to eat for 8 hours. There was no snacks to buy on the plane, they managed to find us a couple of mini size toblerone bars. They didn't come round offering drinks, we had to go and find someone and they always made you feel as if you were interrupting them and you were a hassle. The plane was also freezing, someone had really cranked the air-con up!
This is only my experience but it was exactly the same on the way back. We took food to eat on the way back so we wouldn't starve as we had on the way!!

So person who thumbed me down - were you on the flight to LA with me? Didn't think so, so how do you know what my flight was like??? Aaargh!

I have been a United 1K Member for the past 4 years. Meaning I have flown over 100,000 miles in a year with United.

I have been flying with them for 4 years and have only had problems once.
They lost my luggage from a Chicago to Dulles flight.
On long haul flights they feed you well in Business.
You get a menu and the flight attendants are very nice.
Also in Economy they feed you very well, the food is quite fresh and not bad for Economy Food(even though I have only flown Econoy twice)
I think they are way better than American Airlines.
I left American for United due to so many lost luggage with them and late flights.
United has a very good ontime record and usually gets you to your destination early.

I didnt like them at all. They charge you an extra amount of money to sit on the exit row.

I've flown once with United and that was to Australia. It involved 2 changes outward and 1 inward.
Everything including the food was very good and snacks and hot&cold drinks were available between meals, it seemed as if we were being fed all day and night.
The staff were very pleasant and curtious throughout.
My wife and I have nothing but praise for them.

Hello,
I have flown with United Airlines 3 times. 2 of them were 5 hours long and 1 was 45 minutes long.
I think they have okay seats. There not that big or not that small. But lucky everyone was given a blanket and a pillow. They played 1 movies and the rest of the time they played news.
I definetyly think that United airlines is better than American Airlines.

The flight attendants gave us free soft drinks as many as we wanted. On the 5 hour flights we were fed a meal. Not the best food I ever had but we got a lot. I think I got meatloaf with some vegetables and a piece of bread. With a small piece of cake. And a breath mint.

None of my flights were delayed with united. And I had no problems with check in (the lines were fast and they were very friendly)

I think the boarding was a bit sloppy but everything went okay.

I enjoyed my flight with United. I got everything I wanted during my flight.

Thanks :D

Oh someone said that there airplane inside are freezing. ITs true. The a/c was very cold. It was freezing.

As far as I am concerned United is the worst! Lousy food, everything.

Unfortunately it's terrible compared with American Airlines (or any other airline for that matter). I fly almost 100 times a year, and I've flown United 3 times over the past couple years. They have "misplaced" my luggage each of those times, only to have it returned to me 4-5 days later (after telling me it would be less than 24 hours). I've seen overflowing toilets and vomit in the seat pocket. They don't feed you on domestic flights (except on longer domestic flights they sell food) but based on the unsanitary condition of their planes I wouldn't eat their food anyway. They've never been friendly or on time.

I fly American Airlines at least a third of the time I fly, and have never had a problem with them. Actually, no airline except United has ever been rude to me, lost my luggage, or canceled a flight (except once for a 3 foot snowstorm in Boston).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... But next time I wouldn't recommend flying United.
