You can try.
Even though you've emptied the tank of fuel, there is still fuel in the system and that fact alone may cause TSA to not allow it thru security or onto the plane..... |

It has to be empty of fuel. That's a liquid and they'll confiscate it with your hand soap. |

Glove.

Hell no. I always have to Fed-Ex it ahead of time. Same thing with my pressurized water hose and pink lawn flamingos. They never let me take them either.

You should be able to check it as long as it is properly packaged, ie: sturdy cardboard box taped shut with proper labeling of your information. People check fishing poles, snowboards, and guns all the time.
Is there a reason you can't check it? |

ok.....if your being serious,if your weed whacker is petrol then theres your answer..you cant take petrol in luggage, the only way you can do it is send it by cargo,it will cost a fortune so you may as well buy a new one when you get to wherever you are going.
even though you have taken out all the fuel it will still be classed as 'dangerous goods' which on its own will incur a surcharge for that reason alone. plus tax, duty, dangerous goods check!! |
