British Airways is a pretty good carrier, as airline standards go. It's ranked by Skytrax -- the authority on this sort of thing -- as a four-star airline, which means is has a "good" standard of service across the industry. (Bear in mind that there are only five five-star airlines in the world and you'll see that a four-star ranking is actually pretty great! Most U.S.-based carriers are three stars.)

To get an idea of what it might be like to travel with them, check out the reviews of British Airways on Skytrax -- you'll find tons and tons of stories from people who've flown with them (and should even be able to find someone who's done the exact same route you're doing). This will probably help you get a better feel for what flight service will be like.

Generally, I wouldn't be worried. BA is a solid carrier and you've made a good choice. Have a great trip!

I've flown what feels like just about every airline there is, and on each one, I've had good experiences, bad experiences and indifferent experiences.

British Airways is just an average airline, there is nothing that really sets it apart from the other average airlines.

British Airways usually have the cheapest ticket price, but the highest fees, significantly higher than anyone else's. Which basically means in the case of BA, the fees almost double the ticket price.

To add more fuel to the fire, these fees are set to rise from the November 15th. Surcharges for long-haul flights of less than nine hours rise by £10 per flight to £48 (£96 return), and for longer routes by £15 to £58 (£116 return). For short-haul flights, the surcharge imposed by BA will increase by £2 to £10 per flight (£20 return).

The food is good, but the out door toilets leave a little to be desired!
( sorry couldn't resist!)

I have flown British often, but not from London Gatwick to Naples. Anyways, I like their fares and their on time service. I am talking about EWR-LHR-BOM route.

I used to work for them. Good service, all BA A/C are comfortable. You will get something like a sandwich, baguette.

Its a B737, which is a lovely A/C and it will take you about 2 1/2 hours.
