Help Me Resolve Airline Ticket Quandry - Will I Get Into Trouble? |
I bought and paid for an airline ticket...the departure went fine but now its time to fly back to the UK. The thing is my plans have changed, and I no longer require the domestic part of my British Airways ticket. I will be using the world traveller first leg from Asia to UK, but the second part of my flight (a transfer from London to Manchester) has become redundant, as I am planning to fly elsewhere once I am in London. What do I do?
I have tried the online cancel and whatever...It will not work for my ticket class on domestic travel...
I have emailed BA - they sent me an automated reply copy and pasted from their utterly useless Q and A section, which I had already read, by the way.
What do I do? Do I just go ahead and book my next ticket to wherever I am flying and skip my domestic flight? I am not bothered about refunds and whatever - I dont want my money back...I just want to know I am safe from being arrested or whatever - you never know when the most trivial detail will perpetrate a national emergency these days. Will I get into trouble if I skip my flight?
Could I just show up at the check in desk and check in for only the first of my flights - or is that unacceptable? I would imagine if I dont check in for the flight I intend to miss all should be well, but am I wrong???
I need to know before I buy the next ticket out of London, so please answer quickly, whichever one of you helps me resolve this issue quickly will earn top stars.
Thanks! |

Even in this day and age, airlines' and others' customer service departments aren't equipped to handle e-mail inquiries in a reasonable timeframe.
I suggest you call BA. Most often, if you fail to adhere to your original itinerary the remainder will be automatically cancelled. |

You will have to check in at Asia and have bags checked only to London. Tell them there that you are no longer taking the manchester flight.
Book your flight from London seperately.
Once you arrive in london. Go to arrivals, check your bags through customs and exit the airport then go back to check in at the departures and check your luggage to your new destination with your new ticket.
No problem...... |

Steves right you need to let them know at the beginning of the trip back that you wont be travelling on to Manchester.Reason being if you don't, your bags will still be automatically transferred for the next leg of the journey. You need to find out for certain that you will be able to reclaim your baggage in London. |

I think all this will be resolved when you initially check in, as usually they will check you for all legs of the flight....so just tell them then that you dont wish to fly on to Manchester...and they will do the rest. |

if you are not checking any bags, no problem; just don't go for the London-Manchester flight. It's not illegal! |

You should call BA and strait all that stuff out. If you can't get up with a real person you should go to the ticket counter saying i want to cancell this connecting flight (there might be a canellation fee) and book a flight to whereever. |

The best way is to call them. Their will likely be a cancel/change fee, but it sounds like you don't care.

Don't bother turning up for the domestic part. |

just book new ticket, dont worry about live ticket just let it go,you would be suprised how many people do not bother turning up for flights.just remember if you dont check in for manchester flight then they cant check you in,give you a seat number or load your bag into hold of plane, therefore you do not become a risk by not turning up to board flight. |
