I know how you feeel, i have the same fear.
Im going to the Philippines in a month.
Extremely long flights,
but i realized, that there are soooo many international flights everyday, and how many crash? like 1 in a zillion!!!! really, it is not very likey! so dont worry, and just enjoy the experience. =]
Besides, flying is the safest form of transportation, you'd be more likely to die in a car crash.
have a greaaat trip !!!

having a fear myself and seeming to find all the plane crash shows on tv before I leave to go anywhere. I usually find the adrenalin takes over and you end up enjoying yourself.
In a plane it doesnt feel like your moving, everything is in walking distance, the air hosts are always willing to help you and you have your own personal tv with games.
Take an mp3 player with music you know calms you and think of other ways that help you calm yourself.
Also go to your local pharmacy and check out herbal tablets that help with anxiety. being female, as I am guessing you are, there will always be anxiety products!
Don't forget, your going on holidays, enjoy yourself, think of your destination!!
Goodluck and have fun, your extremely lucky to be going overseas, and Turkey in summer is meant to be great!

You have written your question wrong i think. Its not flying that scares you it is the thought of crashing that usualy puts people off planes. I take it that you are still young which will be part of the reason. When you are older you get more intouch with your own mortality and realise when your time is up its up and there is nothing you can do about it. You can either wrap yourself up in cotton wool and lead a dull life or jump on a plane and explore the world. You are only here once so go out and make the most of it. Book a couple of cheap short flights with a budget airline just to get you used to flying and hopefuly you will conquer your fear. Good Luck

I pilot planes, helicopters and have flown in many commercial airlines. They are still the safest form of travel so you have nothing to fear. Just relax and enjoy your trip, you will soon see how safe and easy air travel is. Bon Voyage.

Here's an illustration that can show you just how unlikely an accident is on an airplane:

Buy a railway boxcar load of playing cards. Take the cards out of the boxes and make one giant deck. Keep adding cards to the giant deck until it is two miles wide. Mark one of the cards "ACCIDENT," and then shuffle the entire two-mile deck thoroughly.

Now pick a card at random out of this giant two-mile deck. The chances of you picking the card that says "ACCIDENT" are the same as the chances of you dying in an airplane accident (roughly one in ten million, in other words).

Does that help?

No, actually it is kinda fun riding in plains because you stop in airports that you don't know and it is fun seeing new airports(my opinion)I was on a plane yesterday from Pensylvania but just to let you know when your on a plane your ears pop and they kinda start to hurt.......but don't worry. Now if you get sick there is some bags for you. There is magizines so you can read. What airline are you going on?Sometimes they give you food and snacks but i think to Turkey there going to give you food(they'll give you soda or juice or water). Some airplanes are small some airplanes are big but some have 2 stories. If your on a small plane sorry because you get kinda dizzy(my opinion).Well when you take of you might feel kinda scared but when you land your stomach feels kinda weird!Let me tell you some stuff you can't take on the plane:Liquids,Perfume,Fireworks, and Sharp Things. Now get there 1-3 hours early before your flight so you won't miss it.Have a fun and safe trip to Turkey!

Planes are actually safer than crossing the road or driving in a car. Just think about how many times you hear about plane crashes in comparison to car crashes. There are thousands and thousands of car crashes a day and then there's only like one plane crash a month. Also think about how many people fly in planes everyday.
If you're scared of flying, I wouldn't recommend sitting in the middle of the row of three, because you'll be more claustrophobic. You should ask your friends about what you should expect. Basically, you don't feel like your moving except when you're taking off, turbulance and landing. When you take off, the plane tips backward, but it's completely normal. When there's turbulance, the plane shakes a little bit but pilots just go higher or lower and find an area that there isn't as much turbulance. Pilots have been trained so well and there's backup pilots too and there's people in control rooms on the ground warning them about weather conditions and turbulence so they can try to avoid it in advance. The window or the end would be best if you have the choice. Just don't think about crashing, because it's not going to happen. I know friends who have been terrified of flying in planes and all they had to do was think about how much fun they were going to have when they got there, and how they couldn't get there unless they flew in a plane. Maybe try that? I used to be terrified of flying after September 11th, even though I had been going in planes at least six times a year since I was 7 months old because I lived across the country from relatives and vacations and my parents had to literally shove me on the plane the first time after it happened. Sometimes you just have to go into things terrified to realize that they're not bad at all. Also, there's so much security in airports now it's crazy. Like it's almost too much security, but it makes you feel a lot safer when you go through everything. Good luck and have fun in Turkey!!

Flying is much safer than driving, in fact it is the the safest way to travel! I fly all the time in fact i just got back from Orlando 1 week ago and I am leaving for Phoenix in about 1 week! The best way to forget the fear of flying is to occupy your time, what I like to do is read a magazine or a book, listen to some music, sleep (if possible), and watch movies! There is no reason to be afraid of turbulence either, all turbulence is air moving in different directions pushing the airplane around is all, no need to fear turbulence! On long flights I like to take a sleeping pill and try and sleep! If you are able to sleep on the plane that will make the time go much faster! If you are afraid of height it is always best to just keep the window shade down. There is no need to worry, flying is extremely safe! So sit back, relax and enjoy your upcoming flight. Have a fun time in Turkey (Turkey is so beautiful, I loved it!)

Dear whatever your name is,

no need to worry, you're plane will be cancelled due to raining pink and purple spotted hippopotomases that sing the blues while eating ice cream sandwitches.

this is kinda out there. but if your fear is really bad, then you might just want to try it. you can go to some psychic and i hear that if you are hypnotized and in a subconscious state, then you can sorta figure out where your fear originated from and it is supposed to help. but if your fear isn't paralyzing i would just try to distract yourslef from the thing that bothers you the most about flying; like the view...close shade or something else. hope that helped somewhat though i doubt it
