yeah, i hate flying too....but sometimes you have no choice. I just try not to think about it. I tell myself, "It's not going to be so bad. Nothing is going to happen. It's not that long....." and I try to keep myself busy by either reading or watching the movie, so I don't think about the fact that I'm flying. Lastly, I always get a seat in the back (not the very last row, but back there) cause it usually seems to be the only part of the plane left when they crash.....it makes me feel a "little bit" better. Happy travels. |

I am Terrified of planes and last week i was flying back from Rome. I must say i was very very nervous to calm myself down i bought sweets to suck on and it reduced my nerves and became calmer also i had an eye mask and i plugged my earphones in the stereo on the air plane and it helped alot.
I hope this helps you and you enjoy your flight. :) |

hi you
there is nothing to fear but fear flying is the safest form of travail there is, if you go to the airport early and make sure your at the top of the line for the check in for you flight ask for an isle seat then when you borad the plane find your seat relax till the plane takes and the seat belts signs go off you now have the freedom to do what you want get up and walk around this and even reading a book or doing puzzles on the flight takes you mind of the fligh and been in an isle seat will help you relax more as you will have the freedom to do more like walk around |

Flying freaks me out a bit too but now that I've travelled to the UK from NZ four times I've relaxed a bit.
Some people swear by Rescue Remedy. You just put a couple of drops under your tongue and it apparently helps to calm you down. They sell it in health food shops.
Have an excellent trip. |

You could see your doctor who may prescribe you a short term supply of anti-anxiety medication such as diazepam. Doctors do not usually like to prescribe these medications but for short term use in this situation they will.
As an answerer above said speak to the cabin crew. They are skilled and can reasure you.
'Bach rescue remedy' is also highly recommended.

Meditation is absolutely fantastic for nervous flyer's, I'm one myself and always meditate before I get on a flight and for a least 10 minuets into the flight, works for me. |

go and see your GP, they will be able to give you something to take before the flight to calm you down. |

you can get herbal calming remedies from thechemist. also its worth mentioning to the cabin crew how youre feeling as they are trained in how to deal with these situations |

i am a shocking flyer and these things help me, rescue remedy from herbal shops you can get it in drops and sweets. breathing in through you nose and out your mouth taking deep breaths with your eyes closed helps relax me and also just looking round at the airline staff, if they seem calm and relaxed then its all going to be fine. its hard to overcome the fear and ive not got out of it yet but ive got better at flying because i had to go alone on a flight with work and the big boss was sat near me so i knew i couldnt show too much fear and make a fool of myself to imagine someone who you need to impress or wouldnt want to make a show of your self is sat close by |

Hey,
I'm A Pilot So I Deal With Hundreds Of Passengers Like You Almost Everyday And There Is NOTHING To Be Scared Of Because Millions Of Planes Fly All Around The World Everyday.
I Do Suggest Taking 'Joyrides' (They Help A Very Lot For Almost All Of The Passengers Who Are Scared Of Flying) |

hi :), im a air hostess and work with people like you on a daily basis, is it a common thing to be scared of flying, belive it or not i used to be! but once your up there you are fine..
id suggest ear plugs, they block sounds out and prevent your ears from popping..by not hearing anything you will relax more by not knowing or listening out to whats going on..
as you are taking of, id suggest talking to the person next to you it leads your mind onto other things..
also id suggest getting a good book or magazine and focusing on that, if not then just use whatevers infront of you
if you find tablets help then id used kalm tables (the night ones), i find the night ones work better than the day ones :) and help you have a little snooze while your up there
have a good flight :)
