travelocity....sign up with travelocity...go to farewatch, and have them send you emails at certain flights....if you see the flight you want...go to this names airline and buy it right-a-way!

If you leave on Wednesday and return on Monday they are cheaper. Everybody wants to fly on the weekend. Booking in advance they are cheaper. You could check out the airlines website and see if they are cheaper or get into touch with a travel agent and they may be able to get you a good deal.

Booking earlier doesn't always work. Airlines will reduce seats when the plane is not full. Still the best way is make a friend that works for an airline and get a buddy pass.

I want to firstly comment on what lois loan had said. Standby with the airlines is no longer. This has been discontinued....you need to have advance purchase. Even in having advance purchase it doesn't guarentee a good price though. By calling the airline and asking for "non-advertised" rates I have never heard of this before, sorry not sure what they are talking about.

Also off of what Jimmy H said, first class for coach? Days of upgrading for free on a first come first serve basis if there were first class seats open is also gone. They used to do this for agents often and honestly they don't even do it for us any longer either. They would rather the seat go empty and a person get a freebie. Creates the illusion that one can do this all the time. There is no terminology on "how to get a first class ticket for free". I'm sure they only asked for an upgade, got it in the past which again they "used" to do often. No airline that I know of does this anymore.

Now onto what I wanted to share with you.

It is possible that by looking in advance it seems as if it is higher, but airfare is going up in cost and it isn't just due to fuel costs, in fact that is only part of it.

It is better to book in advance because cost is based off availability. Also depends where you are planning on going in April. I can tell you if it is anywhere warm start looking and booking now. The airlines are running fewer flights to do there best in ensuring full flights. Travel is changing quite dramatically because these airlines are trying to pull themselves out of bankruptcy and start turning a profit instead of a loss.

How the industry has been as far as last min. travel being better in price is part of what got the airlines in trouble. This isn't the consumers fault, but the airlines didn't really foresee how it would impact them financially.

Best to book this as a package if you need land as well, because you will get a better price on the airfare. I do highly recommend going through an agent because if you book early enough and depending again on the destination we have promo codes, coupons and also we know which vendors price out better for certain destinations. The promo codes/coupons aren't good for every location just so you are aware of that.

If you are trying to plan a vacation an agent can ask you a series of questions to determine which is felt to be the best matched property for you. You then to have a person to go to for questions, needs or concerns you may have instead of waiting for the next available res. agent off of an 800 #.

I just purchased airline tickets thru AirTrans Airlines. My tickets are from Phila to Orlando.. Most other places were charging $280 per round trip ticket.. AirTrans only charged me $190.

i would suggest hotwire altho i have never used them. Expedia worked great for me. Whenever you check online you have to keep checking because prices change like hourly !!!!
Also try calling the airline and asking for non-advertised discounts or specials, call them and ask about flying on standby, and lastly (800) 621-2016 call Fly for Less. Good luck !

I've had good luck with www.cheapoair.com. Get their price and flight info, call the airline and book through them to avoid any extra fees. I find that if you can be flexible by two or three days and aren't fussy about airline or times I do better booking at the last minute, like a day or two before I want to go.

i have found some dirt cheap prices to go everywhere
also there are ways to get 1st class for the price of coach
i forget the terminology but u can call an airport and ask
