Buy oprah magazine or money magazines there is alot to learn and the contents are great. I did that when i was going to Africa and i was up enjoying the read much of the time.You can also take a journal or note and write a story about interesting things about ya life.

On my many trips to Israel, which is 13 hours from the East Coast, I get about 5 hours of sleep (wearing very comfortable clothes is the trick, with ear plugs and a mask). And I agree with the idea of not sleeping too much the night before.

between a book, magazines, puzzle magazines and finding some one to talk to, you should be alright. Don't forget to walk the plane for blood circulation in your legs! VERY IMPORTANT!!!!

only get about 5 hours of sleep the night before, so now, it's easy to fall asleep for about 5 hours. Bring a book, doodle, watch a movie, go on your laptop.

First, fall asleep during take-off. The atmospheric changes make it easy for your body to relax. This should take at least 1.5 hours. Next, if there are any kids around - DO NOT LOOK THEM IN THE EYES! otherwise you will be bothered by them for the rest of the journey - unless you want to play with them. Next, read a book or magazine. This will take about 1.5 hours. Next, play solitaire/pinball on your note book - another 2 hours. Watch the movie with the sound off. If you think it may be interesting, plug in the headphones. Bring some Louis L'Amour books on the trip - they are such simple and entertaining stories to read - you don't have to think.. Very relaxing - might even learn something about life. Next, listen to others conversations. Spend long periods of time in the restroom (unless it stinks - you may need to do this activity early on) - until someone knocks.

Read, balance your checkbook, do your taxes, write some letters, suduko puzzles. If all else fails have a few drinks, and go to sleep.

you could try doing crosswords, reading a book, reading magazines, listening to music (if you have an ipod or MP3 player), doing some Sudoku, sleeping--anything to avoid talking to the stranger next to you--LOL. You could also look into renting or buying one of those portable DVD players. I thought I saw a rental area in one of the airports.

Sleep, relax, read books that interest you (my personal favorite is The Greatest Generation by Tom Brokaw), crossword puzzlesl, Sudoku puzzles, write (actually hand write) letters to people. Bring a journal and write poems, Rubiks cube, lots of possibilities.

Sleep is the best, I love to fly, so I like reading up on the aircrafts specifications, 500 knots an hour is cool, where else can you do that ? "TAKE OFF" IS THE BEST ! I love it when they're all turning and burning at take-off RPM, it's "Horsepower unlimited", and it makes me "sport a Woodrow" !

Read a book, go to sleep, if you really want to shake things up discuss bombs on planes that will make your flight very short.

best not to kill anyone dear or you will be working out how to kill several years in some jail in Mexico or wherever it is you are heading off to, try sleeping, getting a bj from the air steward/s watching the movie and pondering why it's not porn, writing down on a postage stamp the story of your life or just wondering how long it will take before you get caught if you go for a **** in the toilet and if you are caught will they finish you off, and do they like green m&m's
