How can I pass the time on a long aeroplane flight?

After I have exhausted my reading material I am worried about getting bored. I have a long 16 hour flight to take. There are no personal screens for movies on my flight. I don't sleep and won't be taking anything to help me sleep. I don't have an mp3 player, hand-held game player, portable dvd player or anything else similar. Also, I don't want to do sodoku/crosswords etc.

I am an adult and I will be with my partner so even some activities that include him could be great (talking games etc here, nothing of the 'adult' nature!).

I don't want to spend a lot of money but happy to spend something to entertain myself.

Any suggestions?

try some embroidery or tapestry kits which are very cheap in hobby shops. knit a scarf if you can or write a short story there are so many things that you havnt tried...try some of them like try drawing or even doing a portrait of each other maybe start a story by just giving each other a title then write alternating chapters, a pack of cards for solitaire could even fill in some time.

Can you buy some puzzle books that include word games? Those can be more fun because they are often easier to solve than crosswords. There is also that game with the little pegs and you try and get rid of all except one, and that one should be in the center if possible. Even harder is if you put a different colored one somewhere on the board and try to get that one to finish in the middle, meanwhile getting rid of all other pegs! But it's still fun trying. Here are two sites to check out: pages.prodigy.net/dwhinkle/peg.htm and www.foothill.net/BSA/troop4/games/pegs.h... - go to either of these sites and try the game online! Not sure where to buy it, but you could look for the game online and I'm sure you'll find a place that sells it. Maybe there are even some sellers of it on eBay!...Another thing you could do since you'll be with a partner, is play Hangman! Do you know how to play it? It's a little like "Wheel of Fortune" only when a letter suggested is not in the word or phrase created by the other player (you just make dotted lines for the letters to be filled in), another body part of the hangman, which extends from a noose you draw, is drawn (head, neck, arm, other arm, torso, leg, other leg - you can also do eyes, nose and mouth if you want). If you guess the word or phrase, you get a point; if the hangman is finished before the word/phrase is guessed, your opponent gets the point. I'm sure you know how to play. Anyway, best of luck...I'm not an avid flyer so all I can say is - "All power to you"!... NB

hells bells! what kind of crap airline are you flying with that doesn't have in-flight entertainment on such a long flight?!?!?! either way, you are totally limiting yourself, and the answers, by what you will not do. you can't help the not sleeping bit I suppose, but if you don't want to be bored out of your mind I think you will have to be a bit more willing to spend some money. your best bet I think would be to buy a reasonably priced dvd player and bring your own movies with you. at circuit city they range in price from $80-$120 for a decent one, but I'm sure if you looked around a bit you could find a deal...maybe this friday with the crazy sales?!
other than that I think you will die of boredom lol.
good luck with whatever you do and have a safe trip. :)

You could take a deck of cards and the two of you could play 21. You could take some paper and pens and jot down ideas for a christmas party or maybe gifts that both of you have to buy. That always takes awhile and it's fun to get excited about a season that can seem so depressing at times. You could also purchase a travel scrabble board for less than $15 or choose a travel game of your liking, most are around $10-$15 at walmart or target.

You've narrowed out pretty much everything! I suppose you could buy some extra magazines to read, but besides that there is not much to do.

A 16 hour flight isnt long either.. I have flown from Aus to England: 24 HOURS!!!

16 hours. Ok that's along flight, maybe you can think what are you going to do when you arrive, make a good schedule. Reading news paper, talking to your friend, playing cards, or others game. But I'm much sure you'll spent most of your time slepping. That's what the rest of people do in the long flight.
