Help! Economy class..... I wonder how I will set foot in Australia.. I will be dead after a 21 hour flight! Usually when I fly, I get bored after 5 or 6 hours..... and flying economy with no room.. Oh my..
Please any suggestion? I really need it. Thanks.

I will fly Qantas > London>SIngapore>Sydney

Qantas is great! GOod service, wonderful staff. THey'll do all they can to make you comfortable.

Bring a book or two, watch the movies, etc. Deck of cards doesn't hurt, get a poker game going with your seatmates and fleece them for all their pocket change!

thequiteone2006
you could come to pontins with me instead

I did the same trip, I can recomend drugs, anything that will knock you out, but please do not over do it.

I would arrive early for check in to get a seat on the isle definitelly. I would time my toilet breaks to just before meal times as the lines get long after that in my experience. I would get a non stop (45 minute refuel at Thailand or Singapore) flight leaving Europe in the evening and arriving in Australia the 'next' morning (ie there is an extended night period you can treat as your normal sleeping time). Then next day in Australia do your best to stay awake through the day, crash in bed that night, and wake next morning adjusted to the new time zone. It would be a good idea to have everything ready well before you leave and not have any tiring last minute farewells so that you are not exhausted even before you get on the plane.

Watch the video read a book rest refuel yourself but remember to keep moving so as not to get a Deep vein trombosis and to drink loads of water so that you do not dehydrate, Stay clear of alcohol as this is not good from you when flying. Have a nice time cant wait till I get to visit there, Am sure the long flight will be so worth it

BUNGLE!!
ask when you book for exit seats, then check in online 48 hours before to see if you got them....

trust me i have done it 12 times and short of getting a business class seat then you NEED the exit seats for that long hellish journey.. Do not fly qantas, i recommend Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific. sometimes good to go with JAL and get stopover (paid for by them) overnight in tokyo..the 14 hour leg to asia is tough regardless of who you fly with, but when you do the next 7 hours it goes quickly.

Take MP3 player, valium, nicotine patches. Get up every hour or so to exercise for a few minutes. Or when you are on the plane fake cramps and muscle spasms, you may get to sit in first class for a while! Or just ask for an upgrade.

Try for the exit seat as mentioned in a past reply.
Be savvy and check in on-line as most majors then give you the chance to select a good seat if open.
Never get stuck on the inside, you will not survive if you are tall.
Have a few glasses of red wine, even a bottle, works for me and get plenty of water in between snacks every two to three hours that means getting up and asking for the snacks in the galley and a chance to walk around and relax a little.
Cathay Pacific offer great snacks all through the flight.
Be up front and ask at the check in counter for a free upgrade with a smile, you never know.
Lastly, if you can afford do the one night stop over in a hotel, I do this every month if not on Buiss class due to my cheap company at times.
Nearly forgot, take 2 asprin before the flight.
Have fun.

To be honest, Valium. It'll knock you out and also works well for a muscle relaxer, which you'll need after being cramped so long. Other than that, bring along a few good books and your own blanket. You'll need it.

If ever, I would ONLY do it in First Class (and save accordingly over the next years)

A- Same as the rest of the passengers ( Oh, you poor little princess...)

B-If flying in Economy is such a horrible experience for you, then upgrade to Economy Plus or Business Class.

C-Stop complaining! It's not like if you are going to war or something!!

Never do the flight without a stop over - aim to stop over mid way, then spend two days site seeing new country.

The flight will likely land at other air ports on the way to pick up passengers, refuel and restock food and drinks, if possible take advantage of these and get a walk around the duty free shopping area.

Alternatively upgrade your ticket to 1st class all or part of the way but would still recommend the stop over.

Take a good book with you.

Soaring
Take a Singapore International Airlines (SIA) flight instead. They have tons of in-flight movies and games for you to kill time during the flight.
