Dress conservatively. Answer all questions honestly. Don't try to pre-judge what they want to hear.
Do not say that you want to "meet people and travel". They've heard that one a bit too many times. Twist it around though to your advanatage. I said "First, I wanted a job that used my language skills but not as the main purpose..." I also added that I specifically did not want to work 9 to 5.
It was the truth.
The airlines are looking for people who like change. Those who don't want to see the same faces every day, who don't like working the same hours and going to the same places are ideal. It's not a 9-5 job!
Flexibility is key. If you are hesitant about, for example, working holidays or reserve, or ask too many times about which base you'll have, you might find yourself at the door quickly.
Being cute alone doesn't cut it. Believe me, there were tons of much better looking chicks at my first interview but I continued being interviewed while they went home.
They're looking for the kind of people who roll up their sleeves and get to work without a lot of fanfare. If there's a job that needs to be done, a Flight Attendant wont sit around and ask questions!
People who like working with people are preferred. If you downplay your waitress experience or seem hesitant about serving, again, you'll be shown the door. By contrast, emphasize any teamwork experience you have "I liked working as a camp counselor becuase I like kids but we had such a great team that summer..."
Talk about how you want to work up to management wont impress them. They need a bulk workforce who are good at following instructions. Leadership is admired in other lines of work but not what they're specifically looking for here. Sure, leaders will pop up but save that for later. Right now, you're applying for the Flight Attendant job, and nothing else!
So don't plan what you're going to say but come up with a few points that you want to make about yourself and try to slot them in at the interview.
Keep these "themes" in mind when answering. What would be a disadvantage of this job? For example, not spending holidays with my family is a good answer. But add that a missed holiday beats having to do the same thing every day in an office and that's the price you know that might have to be paid.
Talk to the people you meet along the way. Be friendly at check-in, talk to the other interviewees, etc.
If asked to do a group exercise, don't dominate. If you have to play any games about getting to know the others, get straight down to business, no chit-chat and scribble down as much information as possible. You can be friendly later.
So hope it goes well and good luck! |

when you walk in and everyone is seated be confident, stand up and ask if anyone would like a drink, then say "I really want this job and I'm prepared to go the extra mile to ensure customer and your satisfaction" If you do something unexpected and nice then the interviewers will remember you. |
