The air pressure is regulated; you can get " blocked" ears which can be fixed by pinching your nose, mouth closed, and gently blowing into your nose. I've flown on numerous occasions & my niece is a flight attendant - I've never even heard of this happening except possibly it might happen in event of an ear infection or an emergency situation. But then ruptured eardrums would be the least of your worries.
You can buy earplugs made especially for take-offs & landings (when there is the most differential) called EarPlanes. |

I would think it is uncommon, but can occur. My friend had to fly with a terrible sinus infection, and she did have one rupture.
Unless you have a middle ear infection at the time of flight, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Airplane cabins are well pressurized. |

It shouldn't be a problem. A ruptured eardrum can be caused by a sudden increase in air pressure, like from an explosion. But the plane's cabin is pressurized, so there shouldn't be much pressure difference. If it's a concern, contact the airline to see what they recommend. |

It is not common.I suggest that you carry ear plugs to protect your ears.Use them during the flight. |

Not very common at all. I have flown 7 times in my life and it has never happened to me and my next door neighbour is a pilot and has been flying for British Airways for over 10 years and has never had one so I think they are quite rare. |
