How did the Police know I was at the airport when they arrested me? |
I was going through the security check at PHX airport on Tuesday with my boyfriend, and the Police arrested me for a warrant they said the Grand Jury Indicted me. They took me downstairs at the airport and frisked me, no finger prints or mug shot or booking number, then drove me downtown to "bond" out. Then drove me back to the airport to catch the next flight. My boyfriend said the Police told him that since the new passport law changed on Tuesday, there is a new "super computer" that knows every flight I take and that's how they knew I was there, and they arrested me. I fly internationally every week. It has never happened before and that is an old warrant. I think they got tipped off. Do they have a new system that checks for warrants? If so, when I book a flight online, does that go to a computer that tells them who I am, where I'm going and when?

I did not go through customs because I was getting ready to board to leave the country, I wasn't coming into the country, so it had nothing to do with customs. Also, when they arrested me, they had pictures of my boyfriend and pictures of me. They never showed me any paper work, and they didn't finger print me either. One cop did say they were tipped, but that I would never find out who it was. I hope I don't have trouble coming back into the country tomorrow, or trouble leaving the country on Wednesday. This whole thing sucks!!! It's a bogus charge to begin with. I pissed off a Scottsdale Policeman, and he threatened me he'd do this. Does anyone know a good Lawyer? I'd like to sue for false arrest. |

Passenger lists are run through an International Data Base called the "No Fly" list. This is comprised of people who are said to be a threat to aviation or suspected terrorists. People with a warrant for their arrest are put on this list sometimes if a judge feels like they could be a flight risk or threat to aviation. Depending on the charges the judge can add any person they issue a warrant for to the list. It has nothing to do with your passport. If you do travel internationally and you have a passport it is easier to track you because all of your information is on that document and is an electronic way to track you and your activity. Every time you enter or leave a country, it is documented.
When you checked in, was there any problems at the ticket counter??? Did they hold your ID and make a phone call??? If you were on the no fly list your reservation would have been locked and they would have had to call Corporate Security to have it unlocked. If it was locked, they would have called locol authorities to apprehend you in the airport. If that didnt happen, you were already being watched and followed by the arresting agency.
Hopefully you will find a good lawyer. As long as there are no further warrants out for your arrest, you shouldnt have any problems re-entering the country or clearing Customs. Good luck..hope it works out for you.
They could keep you on the list....and you could have problems when you check in again...just make sure you get find out if you are on the No Fly list or not. |

The customs officer would have had to check your passport and when that occurred they would have seen that you had an outstanding warrant, from that they would have arrested you. |

customs has a list of every person leaving the country as well as entering the country if they would have missed you on your way out they sure as heck would get you coming back |
