The first time I flew it was 1974 and I was 12! I was so excited and it seemed so magical. However, I've flown twice in my adulthood and the first thing I noticed was they have the passengers packed in like sardines and the ride no longer seemed "fun".
I do have a very funny first flyer's story though.
My oldest son was 9 years old when we flew to Orlando. It was his first flight and he was really looking forward to sitting next to the window. We took off and he watched us climb into the sky with glee; that is until he started to notice the clouds passing by the window. Now he never said a word, but I could read his mind just by the looks on his face.
At first he thought something like, 'Cool! We're up as high as the clouds! Yipee! Oh, wait... clouds are usually pretty high up in the sky and now...we're above the clouds. Hmmm, that means we're way, way, WAY up high! OH....MY....GOD!!!'
I'm not exaggerating! I watched ALL the color drain from his face. He sat there the entire time with a death grip on his chair's arm rests, starring blankly at the wall in front of him looking white as a ghost!
I had to threaten to leave him in Florida just to get him back on the plane when it was time to come home.
We laugh about it now, but he insists he'll never fly again! |

Scared. I drove out to the pier, and just looked out into the ocean and thought, "I don't want to risk my life." To me, I have the worst of luck. But I really wanted to go on this trip. I sat there and just listened to the radio. And eventually I told myself, "You know what? I'm going to be in New York in about four hours, and I'm going to laugh at myself for being so worried." So I cranked up the car, and drove to the airport. Nothing bad happened, and I did in fact laugh at myself. |

It's a rush! I love taking off. I used to spend 4 days a week on a plane and I absolutely loved it -- until 911. But that was because of how things changed with security in the airports.
Think about it! This huge machine that weighs oh, 50,000 lbs. is leaving the ground at about 160 to 180 mph and flying! I never lost my awe of that fact.
Landing is amazing, too. That this huge machine can slow down, and break out of the wind with wing flaps opening, enough to touch down.
If I had another life, I'd love to fly a jet!
You'll enjoy it if you let it amaze you!

It's like a noiseless train okay, there is nothing special about it, if you are a strong one from inside then you will feel a lil bit headache and your ears seems to be popped in.Very exciting, and you will love to ask something from beautiful "AIR HOSTESS", this is too exciting. |
