How do I pass the Air hostess interview?

I have applied to a number of airlines and I always get an interview. But I never get called back after the group task or the one on one interview. I've read a few books about it. I believe it may have something to do with the group task. What are the key qualities they are looking for? Has it something to with personality?

It has everything to do with personality.
They want people to REALLY want to be cabin crew. Sometimes I think they reject people just to see if they are eager enough to come back & try again.
You need to smile lots, be confident, outgoing, imaginative...

Think about what other people say & do & how it differs to you.

I started out as a flight attendant for a little while. The key to making it past the interviews was all parts of it combined. The first interview for me was a 3 on 1. They used a targeted selection process to ask you about your service experience at other jobs. Stuff like when did you go out of your way to help someone. They have a sheet with key words that they are looking for you to answer. Eye contact, is a must as it shows that you are confident.

Of course, they also want you to relax and smile smile smile. You will be infront of hundreds of people all day long, so you must be comfortable talking to three first before you represent that airline in a uniform.

The second phase was a group task. Ours was something stupid. We just had to build something with blocks. Stupid huh? But the point was to see how well you communicate in your group, and how well you work with random people. That is crucial because as a flight attendant, you usually meet your fellow crewmembers shortly before a flight. Sometimes you may have worked with them before, but most of the time, I met my fellow workers for the first time as we were preparing to board. And then you had to work well with them because you may be on a trip that's four days long.

They are looking for how well you can take a lead, and listen. When someone has an idea, they want to you show that you are listening to the idea.

These days, appearance is not everything. I mean looks wise anyways. There are more male flight attendants than ever before. It used to be that you had to be female, about 120 Lbs max, and sexy as hell. Now you can be like 200 lbs, and not so attractive and still be a flight attendant.

You just have to have a great personality. Here is another hint. Every airline has "values" that they brainwash their employees to remember. When they ask you what do you know about the airline you are applying for, then you can wow them when you shoot those values out.

In group interviews they look at body language and interaction with others. You cannot come across as shy or being a dominant person. Be yourself, relax and be friendly. Speak clearly in a loud voice. Make eye contact all the time. Don't fidget or wring your hands. Make sure you're immaculately groomed. Hair off face. Wear high heels but not too high. Don't wear glasses but contacts if you can. Don't overdo it on the makeup. Go for the natural look. Smile. Most important part of job is safety, then customer service like being helpful and friendly and then sales. You must be a good swimmer too. Good luck.

I echo what a1c labranche said...
AND
FOLLOW directions...
lots of times they ask you:
Get up, state your name, age, and occupation.
So get up and say: Jaime, 24, teacher...
dont say: I teach 2nd grade at Johnson Elementary in Fairview, Nevada....
this is hhhuuuugggeellllyyy important :)
Show that you can follow directions AND be concise--speak loudly and clearly---will passengers listen to you in an evacuation?? :)
good luck!

You need feed back from the said airline, they have to give you reasons then maybe you can research the airlines said reasons why you did not get the job always ask don't ask don't get.

You need to show a willingness and ability to perform as part of a team. If anything terrible happens up there, passenger's lives might depend on the cabin crew working together as an efficient cohesive unit. Although your work is assessed as an individual; in practice, you are simply part of a team. Incidentally, the term Air Hostess is long defunct

When you are in a group always appear to be listening and agreeing and never give your own opinion unless it is a positive one.

They are looking for people who put the passengers first and who will say positive things in a calm way.

A very good technique is when you are in a group interview always deflect a comment or a question back to the the other person by using 'which what when where or how' questions'

For example:

Other person: I want to be a flight attendant because I want to travel

You: Oh really? WHERE would you like to travel to?

Other person: Perhaps Paris.

You: Oh that's fascinating WHERE else would you like to go?

Other person: Oh I'd love to go to Rome

You: WHAT interests you about Rome?

etc etc etc

By asking open ended questions using the 'which what where why who' words the other person is encouraged to open up and say more

They also need to know you are not going to get flustered in a busy environment and during the interview they will sometimes try and fluster you by contradicting you etc.

Years ago I flunked a British Airways cabin crew interview because when I told the interviewers where I worked they said that place didn't exist and although I was semi-polite they saw me bristle a little and I was kicked out of the running.

There's a show on cable about the very same thing you are asking. Can't think of the name..but it's relative to your question. As a passenger...I respond to friendly and helpful attendants. I put my faith in them because they know more about the aircraft than I do. I hate those bells because i don't know what they mean. The hostesses are always calm. That helps me too.
