Chewing gum or sucking on hard candy is one technique. If you don't have any handy, swallowing hard or simply opening your jaw as far as you can will work, too. The idea of "popping" your ears is to open up the eustachian tube to equalize the pressure in your ears during take off and landing, when the pressure in the cabin changes rapidly.

If you have a cold or any sort of of illness that is causing a stuffy head, you may not be able to pop your ears, and this will cause you quite a bit of discomfort. That is one reason you are not supposed to fly with a cold, but if you have to try to take some decongestants before you get on the plane.

When my ears pop on the plane i try to yawn alot or if that doesn't work, hold your nose with your fingers (so you can't breathe out of them. Then blow, that usually works for me!
Hope you have fun in Spain!!!

chew gum or yawn a ton

NJGuy
Chew gum or suck on a lollipop!

There are ear plugs that I use...They're called "Ear Planes" I think. They regulate the pressure in your ears when taking off and landing. You put them in when taking off and landing and it makes it a lot less painful for me. Good luck.

try chewing gum while take off....that should help

Monique W
hold your breath and close your ears you may look funny but it works every time i go to visit my dad every three months in florida

Sean E
chewing gum or swallowing sometimes helps.

KAM
Either
chew gum
suck on boiled sweets/lollipops
yawn a lot!
Hold your nose (so that you are not able to breathe), close your eyes & blow out (so your cheeks puff out). It sounds silly, but it always works!
You could also try special ear-plugs that are available for flights.
Good luck & have a nice time in Spain : )
