How do you get over fear of flying?

To get over a fear, you have to face your fear. The more you fly, the easier it may become for you. Flying is very safe. Do you worry every time you get into a car? Go for a walk? You are more likely to get a car accident, or get run over by a car while walking...than you are to get in a plane crash. You are even more likely to get struck by lightening...and those odds are slim to none. There is to much world out there to be seen and explored to let your fear of flying get in the way! Get out there and take a flight somewhere!!!

you shouldn't think of your fear as a fear but rather a challenge; a problem with a solution. up to now they're still fighting and losing the battle of cancer. but do you see them giving up? no. learn to tackle your fear and you'll see how easy it can be.

I don't think that you ever really get over any fear. You just sort of learn to deal with them. Sorry can't be more helpful.

This will sound crazy but I had the same fear and someone told me to go skydiving. I told them hell no but got convinced. I did it and had a blast. Sense that day every time I fly I dont have a fear! NO JOKE

By facing your fear.

I'm used to flying all the time, a little secret that will help you is to walk on a plane like you do a bus. Take your seat, have a look at the books in the seat in front of you or talk to the person next to you as the plane is taking off.

You really don't notice much only on the climb, your ears pop. So chew gum or yawn so your ears don't pop. Once the plane levels out undo your belt and stand up stretch. About ten minutes later you'll be asked if you want a drink or something to munch on. The movie or TV shows comes on about 30 minutes into the flight. Focus on them rather than your up in the air.

Once you have experienced your first flight you'll want to do it again it's fun and believe me you'll love it.

Visualise yourself actually flying on a plane and feeling relaxed and easy about being there. Do this often enough and your mind will soon get the message.

Maybe you could take one or two short flights with somebody else, then you will have someone to support you for the one or two occasions it takes for you to actually get over your fear of flying.

See if you can find out what has caused your fear. Maybe it was a bad experience on a flight or something. Replay the incident in your mind, but with a happy and successful ending. Again, your mind will soon get the message.

There really is nothing to fear about flying. Airlines are very slick operations these days, and aircraft have regular thorough maintenance checks. The people flying the plane will be seasoned professionals with years of experience, so you are in very good hands. Thousands of flights are made every day and 99% of them pass off well. I have flown many times and have never had any problems.

Seriously, sometimes you can not get over it, I would just take a gravol or something that will help you sleep most of the way.

Indeed, once you're in the air, you can't tell that you're flying, especially if you aren't sitting by the window. Just imagine you're sitting on the ground the whole time! : )

Kristin
I usually take a sleep aid as soon as I get on the plane so that I'm asleep by the time the plane takes off. In my experience the take-off and landing are the worst parts, and once you're in the air, unless there's turbulence, you can almost forget you're flying.
