It usually tales 2-3 days to get your system adjusted to the new time schedule.
Best thing to do is force yourself to get active in some way during the daylight hours and keep as regular of a schedule you can.
Avoid caffine & energy drinks the last 3 or more hours before going to bed and alcohol in moderation.
If you are having troubble getting to sleep, try to find melatonin. It's a natural sleep aid thatis as close as you can get to seratonin that your body produces to tell it that it's time to go to sleep.
If you are sleeping already, you may be sleeping TOO MUCH. If you are used to sleeping 6 hours a night and are now sleeping 8 or 9 hours, you may be having what I call a sleep hang over.
Sleep about as much as you are used to getting rather than what the "experts" say you should be getting. |

I have travelled from JFK to LHR and back once a month for six years (this is my seventh). The time difference is 5 hours.
The way to cope is to trick your mind- I change my watch to the time for my destination as soon as I sit down on the plane and do not think for one moment about any time difference, but continue to act as if the future time is the only time that I have ever known (for example I force myself to sleep and wake up at the right time). This has worked very well for me, and I hope you try it. |

easy.
you have to start planning when you are about to board the plane. say you are going from london to America.
and you hve a early flight. you try to stay awake as long as you can during the night. Then you get ot the airport. sleep on the plane and you shoud be half way back to america's time.
then when it gets dark, sleep. when its daylight. wake up.
your body will make the transfer. |

Force yourself to sleep at the regular time and try to wake up at as close to regular time as possible. Exercise like walking helps too.

First, try eliminating the alcohol from your diet. Secondly, try to rest during normal hours. After a few days, you should start to return to normal. But if you keep drinking, it will take much longer. Alcohol isn't beneficial to your body's energy. It's quite the opposite. |
