Well you don't say air hostess anymore for a start, lol. It's cabin crew, my sis is one & they're quite particular about it. She applied to lots of companies via their websites.

Firstly, being Cabin Crew is a lot more than being a waitress, the food service is just thrown in to please the punters!!

You have to really want the job. There is a lot involved in even getting an interview and you have to really sell yourself in your application. I am Cabin Crew as you can probably tell and apparantly for every one if us there are 4000 wanting to take my place.

Do your research, make your application really positive and show your personality, answer the experience questions with the best examples you have.

At the interview there will probably be around 20 people. You will start off with english and maths tests (not always) a group discussion, team working exercises and then if you are lucky enough you may get a 2 2 1 interview.

I would suggest having a look at www.cabincrew.com or
www.aviationjobsearch.co.uk or www.pprune.org under the Cabin Crew section. This will give you more advice and will probably show you who is recruiting at the moment.

Having Customer Service experience is essential. You must also be over 18 to serve Alcohol. Also having a brain helps, you have to be good at english and maths as the training course is very intensive. Most of the Cabin Crew I work with including myself have a Degree. We are not all barbie's like some would think!!

Ignore the small minded people who think being Cabin Crew is being a glorified waitress. They are the ignoramouses that don't realise that we will put out a fire at 37,000ft if someone smokes in the toilet. A plane can be engulfed in 30 seconds so without Cabin Crew that chap and all of his stupid gang will be dead, also if they have a heart attack, or anaphalactic shock or a diabetic fit or any major illness the Cabin Crew are the ones who will save their lives!!

Good luck with applying for Cabin Crew, it is a great job, I earn more than all my friends as you get Tax Free duty pay on top of you salary. I have been all over the world on my 90% discounted flights and holidays and I stay in 5 star all the time for 2-3 days at a time whilst being paid to do so and being fed oysters and lobster and drinking champagne for free!

Heya, i currently work an airport, as a passenger service agent. Lots of people i know, and have known have gone to cabin crew. The easiest way i beleive is to find is that get a job as a PSA first or similar ground passenger handling job. Then after getting 6months minimum passenger face to face service, which pretty much all airlines ask for, start applying for crew.

I know many people who have gone through the "Cabin Crew course" at college, or "travel and tourism degrees". These only help slightly and these dont really impress airlines that much at all, and in my opinion are a complete waste of time!

When it comes to the push and shove with employment for airlines, what the airline is looking for is experience...not certificates. They want to know that you could handle a abusive passenger at 30,000ft!

hope this helps, and good luck.
