The engines suck in air at the front and blow it (and burnt kerosene vapour) out at the back. The thrust of this causes a reaction and pushes the plane forwards.
There are various theories as to how the wings work, the usual Bernoulli principle of equal transit suggests that the air pressure underneath the wing is greater than the air pressure above and so the wing is pushed up against gravity. The link below goes into greater detail about other options. |

As a plane moves through the air it is travelling so fast that the air being pulled over the top of the wings creates a vacuum - basically. However, it is more due to air pressure than anything else - the top of the wings are generally longer then the underside but the same amount of air must travel over both and end up at the same place (ie at the back of the wing); as the upperside of the wing is longer the air must move a lot faster - this reduces air pressure meaning that the greater pressure is pushing the underneath of the wing upwards - suspending it in the air. |

You better ask the pilots. But if course, it's not a living organism. It is run by twin engines attached maybe to its wings. |

Planes don't really fly--while you're watching the movie and eating then move the land so when the doors are open you think you are somewhere else.....it's one of life's cruel hoax's. Lesson to be learned: Don't believe everything your told.... |

oh come on now, don't be sily. it is a machine designed to carry people and goods in air. it uses engines which specialise in creating a lift on an object. if you learn physics, you will know it. |

The motors push the engine forward and the wings are aerodynamically designed to generate more pressure underneath than over. You can demonstrate this with a spoon and a running tap, put the bottom of a spoon against the water flowing from the tap and you will find it sucked in, the same way air flowing under a planes wings pushes it up.
Or take a strip of paper and put one end under your bottom lip, then blow across the top, the strip will rise up! |

Planes fly due to the fact that they are propelled by engines which run on fuel. These engines burn fuel and convert its stored chemical energy into kinetic energy, which is then harnessed by the wind turbines to help it fly |
