How early do you have to arrive at the Airport for domestic flights in the US.? |
I have heard you have to arrive 3 hours early! Surely this is a joke, right? My flight is only about 1 1/2 hours long.
Would someone who has travelled domestically in the US recently confirm how early I should arrive at the airport? Thanks!

90 minutes at most airports. If not checking bags 60. If you are traveling on a particularly busy day, such as just before or after a holiday, then 2 hours or more. Also allow more time at airports that are known for long security lines. Las Vegas, LAX, and Seattle are a few that come to mind. |

A lot of it depends of the airport - Denver, LAX & Las Vegas are infamous for L-O-N-G lines. If you have to check on luggage, it's going to take longer. I just flew internationally and domestically - arrived about 3 hours early for the international leg & a couple of hours early for the domestic flight. It's better to be safe than sorry. |

Sometimes it can vary from day to day and airport to airport - why not just phone the airport you are leaving from and ask their recomendations for arrival times before departure. They have always given me a time frame in the past. |

In all reality, it is going to depend on what airport your flying out of. The one I work at if you arrive about an hour to an hour and a half early your good, and that's including if the airlines computers go down. If your flying out of somewhere like LAX or a huge airport, I'd defiantly find out from someone that's flown out of that specific airport. |
