They suggest that you arrive around 2 hours prior to your flight. You want to allow plenty of time to get through the security lines at the checkpoints. You can check the average wait times in the lines for airports here:
http://waittime.tsa.dhs.gov/index.html
It lets you check the day of week and time so you can gauge from there.
Hope this helps and have a great flight!

atleast 1 hour before it leaves to check in

usually its the same as any flight ... 2-3 hours. But also it depends on the airport..

i.e heathrows is a longer time than somewhere like humberside.

spook542
In theory 30 minutes.

But at some airports - Heathrow and Gatwick for example, it can take twice that long to get through security due to the totally stupid security checks that now take place.
And if you miss your flight because the security queue was too long the response from the airline and BAA is "tough".

So you're now into the totally farcical situation of having to be at an airport for 2 hours before a 45 minute flight.

If you get your boarding pass on the net then you need to be there just before they close the boarding gate.. you just need to get in... under condition that you don't have any luggage to check in....

If you don't have luggage to check in and don't have your boarding pass (from the net) you mast be there approx. 30 minutes before the flight.

If you do have luggage to check in then you need to be there at least 45 minutes before the flight departs as they close check in for luggage 30 minutes prior to departure...

Ussualy 1 hour is perfect. Gives you enough time to check-in, get through security, and still have a 15-20 mins to spare...

RockGod
Usually 40-60 minutes before the flight is due to leave
