buy now!!!! before the price gets too high and to sort out any visa applications if any.

What I do is reserch the airlines that get to where I want to go. Look at those airlines then go to a travel agent and try to get a good deal.

BUY NOW!!!!

January is typically a slow period. So 3 weeks is minimum to get a good deal. Check fares on Expedia and Travelocity and look at newspaper ads for consolidators.

Don't know where you are and where you are going.

January can be high season for certain routes.

It's not always cheaper to buy early. There might be fares later that's not yet published pre-Christmas.

if it isn't for the application of visa you can even buy at 'last minute'.but beware you should be at least 3 hours before the departure of the plane for checking in! naturally you should have your passport and visa if necessary for the country of destination.the best sites in India, i don't know.try the web site of 'timesofindia.com.' there are 'travel web sites' as publicity encrusted.

I'd say 3 weeks before your flight.

WildRice
There is no easy way in answering this question as I do not know where you are starting from!

Other than North America, where most fares are published and have advanced booking requirements, other places in the world have consolidator fares which means there are no advance booking requirements and you may book at any time.

yeah u can book any time before 6 months need not to pay give ur passport details to travellers then book. This is the right time to go to any country as it is off season.

It just depends when you are going. I have had the best luck buying the tickets as early as possible. The longer u wait the more expensive they are going to be. There is a good web-site www.lastminutetravel.com and I know they usually have some pretty good deals but not sure if its for only the US or not.

Good Luck and Have Fun
