Today, around 5:45pm, I was driving near the San Jose, CA airport. I've lived close to the flight path for more than 2 years, so I'm pretty familiar with how planes approach to land.

your out of luck most fly between 32,000 and 37,000 feet |

i think what it says about the ten thousand feet thing is that it won't work, when it is in that atmosphere - at a level of 10 000 feet, excluding planes which have a pressurized cabon. |

Even though aircraft fly at 32,000 feet or higher most times, you will have no problem with your ipod. The air pressure in the cabin is typically 8,000 feet or less. This is the pressure both your body and ipod will feel. You will have no problem using it on the aircraft, you'll just be told to turn it off during takeoff and landing. |

On a commercial airline you will probably be around 32,000 to 40,000 feet. Your ipod will work fine in the aircraft, because the cabin in pressurized. |

they go about 35,000 40,000 depending on your destination and weather and such, but the cockpit should be proessurized so it dosnet matter it should work or it is a cheap ipod |

high require by FAA is 30000 feet and above.. |

In order to have safe flight paths, the longer the flight, the higher the elevation, typically. It also helps to be in a thinner atmosphere (higher up) to reduce drag and save on fuel costs.
Flights under 10000 feet, would mostly be short regional hops (like between Pierre and Watertown in South Dakota), or private planes.
The FAA sets up the rules for flight planning and you can visit their site. |

There is no problem with using your ipod at any given altitude, so it will work just fine. Yes, definitely more than 10,000 ft. Usually above 30,000 ft. depending on conditions (and requirements by the FAA). |

33,000 feet |

Ipods work at any allititude. Also airplanes cruise at 30,000 - 37,000 feet. They need to reach this allitude to get to the jetstream. Also there are mountains that go at 10,000 feet. Airplanes could crash.
Bottom Line:
Airplane fly at 30,000 - 37,000
Yes you can use ur ipod |

Altitude depends on a couple of things. If it's a smaller aircraft, they tend to stay in the 24-30,000 range, also if it's a short flight. Longer flights can go as high as 43,000 feet. You can use your iPod onboard anytime AFTER 10,000ft. That's when the plane has reached an altitude in which nothing is likely to go wrong. The restriction is because the FAA would like all passengers to be aware of their surroundings in case of an emergency, which is most likely to happen (statistically) either right after takeoff or before landing. That's also why the flight attendants will ask passengers to turn off and stow all electronic items before landing. |
