You will get many different answers because you haven't included any details. It will depend on airport, Intl/Domestic flight, terminal, day and time of travel.
At least two hours is a good general guideline.
Today, travel is stressful. Arriving to the airport with plenty of time takes some stress out of the equation. |

In large airports, two hours. In smaller city airports, less time is needed. In the small town where I live, an hour is more than enough. |

Probably 2-3 hours just in case security or bag check is delayed. If you live near the airport, i would suggest going at least an hour early. |

you are in the US, right?
If you are in the snow, I would reccomend two and a half hours. That gives you plenty of time to get to the airport in case there is a traffic accident. Then if at the airport with two and a half hours, you are covered if there is a long check in line. then security....who knows how long that could take.
I would aim for three hours, so if there is a traffic accident, you are covered for half hour to an hour.
If on an international flight, I reccomend an additional hour (ie; 3 and a half hours). This is because you also have to go through immigration/passport control.
keep checking your airline website as they MAY provide reccomendations for this busy time of year.
Be sure to take some entertainment in case you get lucky and whiz through formallities. |
