Jet Lag typically arises when you travel through three or more time zones. Complete recovery can take 3 to 7 days for westward travel, and 5 to 14 days after an eastward flight.
The key to dealing with jet lag is to reset your internal clock, the same way you reset your watch when the pilot announces the local time. |

Having flown to Australia myself plus other parts of the world the best answer I can give you is get as much sleep on the plane as you can and when you get to your hotel get to bed and try your very best to get some sleep then your jet lag will be over quite quickly on your return journey I suggest you stay up the night before a long and as late as you can so you are extremely tired then you will automatically fall asleep on the plane as a general rule of thumb the more sleep you can get on the plane the less jet lag you will suffer from and this comes from experience having travelled to the state about 12 times also having flown to Singapore Australia the Philippines and many other places |

go with the flow.
generally they say one day for each time zone you cross.
i say try and stay awake in daylight and at sunset hit the sack.
listen to your body but also use your eyes |

Manicbrit is correct, but it depends which direction you fly. If you are going from LAX to Oz, I have been OK all five times when I arrive. Coming home back to the USA is bad, horrible for several days. If you are flying from England to Oz, you are going east, I would guess that you would suffer in Oz, OK when you get back to England. |

change your sleep pattern about 3 day before
you fly try to sleep in the day time for a couple of hours,
this will help change your sleeping pattern,
a little and this helps... |

Hello,
Going to Australia from the U.S. is tough, because the time difference is so great. It may take you a few days to feel completely normal.
By the way, a colleague of mine put together a page on mahalo.com called How to Overcome Jet Lag:
http://www.mahalo.com/How_to_overcome_jet_lag
It might help you adjust faster!

Going to Oz isn't too bad - you'll probably be really tired for a couple of days and waking up far too early before your body clock sorts itself out in the first week.
Coming back is pretty horrendous though... |

Depends upon where you departed from. General rule of thumb is each time zone crossed requires 24 hours to recover. |
