As others have said, it depends on where you takeoff from. From SFO or LAX it is about a 14 1/2 hour nonstop flight to Sydney, but from anywhere else in the country you have to connect through another city. So from say from New York or Miami it is about 22 hours, or from Chicago or DFW about 20 hours; and this is with the best possible connections. BTW, coming back from Australia is about an hour faster on nonstop flights, and 1-2 hours faster to other cities.

It depends where you are in USA and where you want to get to in Oz . Both are huge countries

17 sounds short...it depends on WHERE in the U.S. you are. Took my son 22 hrs from Colorado.

LA to Sydney is 14.5 hours...my dad did that a few years ago. He said the hardest thing about that flight was the immediate jet lag after disembarking.

good luck

Depends. Non-stop = 18 hours.

stop overs = more than 20 hours.

It really depends where you are leaving from. It can go from 14 hours until 22 hours. :)

Time travler
About 14 and 1/2 hours. It's a darn long flight, but I was surprised how quickly the time went by. My flight was from LA to Australia, so I don't know where you are leaving from.
