How much liquid allowed now in airports?

On saturday, march 31, I'm going to california to visit family there. I'm going to go to Newark Liberty International Airport. I got my ears pierced not too long ago and I think I should bring the liquid antiseptic with me. Does anyone know how much liquid is allowed in airports these days?

Hi there,

The current rules regarding liquids passing through security (and onto a plane) are as follows:

-Each liquid container must be no larger than 3.4oz (100ml)
-ALL of the bottles/containers must fit in ONE re-sealable Ziploc style ONE QUART bag.
-You may only have ONE of these bags

If all you are bringing is the antiseptic for your piercings then you can use a small sandwich size ziploc bag if you wish (assuming the bottle fits in it).

Hope that helps. Have a safe trip!

Containers must be 3.4 oz or less (100 mL) and they must fit in a 1 quart (1 L) bag. It's a little bigger than a sandwich bag.

Once through security, you can buy whatever you like and bring it on the plane.

TSA tweaks carry-on rules

Effective immediately, the Transportation Security Administration has revised its ban on passengers carrying liquids, aerosols, and gels onboard commercial flights. These rules, which took effect on Aug. 10 in the immediate aftermath of a foiled terrorist plot in the United Kingdom, apply for all domestic and international flights departing from airports in the United States.

However, the new regulations may raise more questions than they answer. There are two primary changes:

Passengers may now carry onboard "travel-size toiletries" of 3 ounces or less, provided they fit comfortably in one, quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag.

After clearing security checkpoints, passengers can bring onboard beverages and other items bought in the secure boarding area.
For now, the TSA says larger amounts of prescription liquid medications, baby formula, and diabetic glucose treatments must be declared at the checkpoint for additional screening. If you're unsure about amounts, it's best to pack toiletries in checked baggage. As for flights departing from airports outside the U.S., the regulations vary.

The TSA says the aviation threat level remains high, but "it is unlikely that additional changes in the liquid, aerosol, and gel policy will be made in the near future." We'll see.

Call the airline on which you will travel.

I believe it's 3 oz. Bottles in the small sandwich size clear ziplock bags, one per person.

I believe the only liquid they allow is the liquid in your body and they may even need to screen that.
