i tried checking air new zealand website...it says that the charge for extra weight varies at each airport, location etc.... so it just says to call and ask.. Thats the only way you'll get an accurate answer. Sorry I tried. happy trip! |

hi,when flyin over the Atlantic you are allowed 2 pieces of baggage-each not exceeding 32-KILOS, so u are well within your allowance, but your hand-luggage should not be bulky n should fit in the bulk-head compartment above the seat.hav a nice flight. |

Check with New Zeland Airlines about excess wieght charges, sometimes it is better and cheaper to take an excess piece of luggage. They usally charge double or triple the excess piece charge for overwieght bags.
Individual Free Baggage Allowances
> Domestic New Zealand flights
> Flights between New Zealand and Australia, the
Pacific Islands, Asia or Japan:
Economy and Premium Economy 20kg (44 lbs) total
Business 30kg (66 lbs)
Star Alliance Gold Customers(including Airpoints Gold and
Gold Elite) an additional 20kg (44 lbs)
Infants are entitled to the same baggage allowance as the accompanying passenger, including car seats and strollers, but they are not entitled to any additional allowances linked to the accompanying passengers frequent flyer tier status.
> Flights to/from the USA, Canada or Tahiti
> Flights between New Zealand and London via
Los Angeles:
Economy and Premium Economy 2 pieces, each up to
23kg (50 lbs)
Business 2 pieces, each up to 32kg (70 lbs)
Star Alliance Gold Customers (including Airpoints Gold and
Gold Elite) 1 additional piece per person
Under this piece system, each piece of baggage should have total dimensions (length + width + height) no greater than 158cm (62").
Infants are entitled to the same baggage allowance as the accompanying passenger, including car seats and strollers, but they are not entitled to any additional allowances linked to the accompanying passengers frequent flyer tier status.
For all flights:
* Please note that if part of your itinerary involves travel under the piece system, then the piece system will apply to your whole Air New Zealand journey. If you are travelling on a Round the World or Four Corners fare, please check your ticket for the baggage allowance applicable to your journey.
* The absolute maximum weight per piece of baggage for all customers is 32kg (70 lbs)
* Each piece of baggage should not exceed total dimensions (length + width + height) of 158cm (62") |

Different airline company charge different rate. Also the rate will vary from location to location. It is best that you try to check in your luggage slightly around 30 kg should be fine. International routes the customer service sometimes do allow you to carry more in, if the plane is not a full load. So you can try and check if this is so for your flight.
Otherwise, the airline do not weigh your carry-on luggage, it has to be of a size to fit in the overhead compartment. So you can carry more weight. Try and re-distribute your luggages so that you carry the small and heavy stuff with you and not check them in. Just do not appear to be over-strained by the weight or they may want to check you then!
From your indication, your luggage and carryon seems to be alright for your trip. I think you need not worry too much.
p.s. Be nice to the check-in staff and they may close one eye on the weight issue . |
