u can ride on a plane by yourself from 5yrs old and up, on your ticket they will have you on there as an unaccompanied minor, so the steawards would keep an eye on you and there will also be someone to help u locate your family once the plane lands and if you plane has to make a transit somewhere they take u to this little play room, where u can plan with other kids

ya i was 8 years old on an airplane by myself

ps. do you know how to spell airplane?

babysport
depends on the airline-- they all have different policies.

Yes a minor can ride by himself to like another responsible adults, however a flight person usually escorts the minor to and from the flight and gives that person to the adult with the other adults consent. An example if your parents sent you to visit Grandma.

Some airlines allow children as young as 5 to fly alone. Different airlines have different requirements, depending on the length of the flight, whether it's international, if there are connections and even at what time of day it leaves.

Just as an example, Northwest allows children as young as 5 but they can't connect.

Most airlines require that they participate in the "Unaccompanied Minor" program. This means, they have to stay with an airline employee at all times in the airport. Your parents have to mention this at booking and pay an extra fee.

When you arrive at the airport, your parents sign a paper and then an airline person takes you through security to the aircraft. You're usually with other kids flying this way and usually are the first to board. When you get off, the Flight Attendants will again hand you over to another airline employee who will then help you with your bags and make sure that you are picked up by the person or parent who is supposed to come get you.

It's not babysitting and most of it simply involves following someone in uniform around. Most of the "UM"s I had when I worked for the airline were the children of divorced parents and were flying between the two. Sometimes they're not too happy about make the trip so if you see another kid "acting up" or generally unhappy, it probably has nothing to do with the flight itself. Don't let it upset you or think anything's wrong.

Flying this way is safe and dependable. I've never sent my own children this way but I wouldn't hesitate to do so if there were a reason.

Good luck!
