Freedom Fighter

How rigid is airport security these days?

Not really...just looks rigid, but things always get sneeked pass them.

Mistyrie
They are rigid alright. As long as you follow the Airport and Airline's guidelines, there should not be any problem. I just came from a trip overseas. Go check TSA to find out what you can and can't carry with you and also check airlines baggage weight and size limit. http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

Just some Dude
Depends if you are an arab... Otherwise, it is just annoying... Taking shoes off and waiting in a very long line..

chica_b
are you black or arab? your skin looks arab. but your sassy expression and facial hair look black.
anyway. whatever.

The rule against liquids in your carryon luggage is the only real pain. Pack all your toiletries in your checked baggage and that will be a few less minutes in line for the 100 people waiting behind you. :-)

Leaving this Country is strict. I've seen Security allow Hondurans and Dominicans to bypass security checks while searching Americans luggage. Looking for something to steal.

It is a lot of fluff and bluster. They will catch your Gramma's denture cream and drag her off for a rectal, but Destructor H. Oblivion will waltz through un harassed.
It's akin to the consummate 7 DWI,license revoked 3 yrs ago, non insured drunk driving meister barreling home every night hammered, doing donuts and 360s all the way until he kills someone; compared to the soccer mom who accidentally lets her inspection sticker expire by 3 weeks.
Who do you think gets stopped? DWI take 6 hours of paperwork so they let them go. Proven fact here in San Antonio.

Rigid enough to inconvenience the people flying so it appears to make everyone safer, but a determined person could get whatever they want on board a plane.
