How to entertain yourself on a flight?

Alright, in about a week's time I'm gonna be going from New Zealand to Vancouver to Amsterdam to Istanbul and then the same backwards. What is the best means of entertainment on long flights like that? Specific recommendations (i.e if "books" then recommend one) are more than welcome. Cheers.

ohhh man, I don't know if I could do that. I live in hawaii and my hometown is Portland Oregon which is only a 5-6 hour flight (Depending on the day I guess) and I go NUTS! because i have the shortest attention span ever! If you're old enough to drink, get drunk. :) it makes it more entertaining (sucks if you don't have an aisle seat tho because then you have to bother your neighbor when you have to pee every 20 minutes lol) I think most airlines now let you rent a portable DVD player for the flight, but they also don't accept cash. :( If you have an ipod, definitely bring that (that's kind of a no-brainer lol) pen and paper is a must have (for writing and drawing). Crosswords, sudoku, logic puzzles, those kinds of things are fun. and if nothing else, make sure you have some benadryl so you have the option of sleeping the whole time lol I've done that too.
And any books my Christopher Moore - hilarious!!
Good luck and have a safe flight!

When I went from Australia to London, a long trip.

We followed the sunset, it was amazing. I took lots of photos of mountains and lakes and then the lights of cities.

I also spent time walking up and down the plane and chatting to people.

The time went really quickly.

Get yerself a nintendo ds or a sony psp. Plenty of games to keep you amused.

I'd recommened any books by jeremy clarkson if you want a laugh and are interested in cars.

I normally read on aircraft. I like to take along an "old friend" that I enjoy and have read before. That way, interruptions do not concern me, as I can pick up where I left off. I am a big Tom Clancy fan. His "Debt of Honor" is particularly interesting, as it deals with a lot of different topics. If this does not appeal to you, try "The Discoverers" by Daniel J. Boorstin, the former Librarian of Congress.

Enjoy your flight.
Regards,
DAn
