Take some tranquillisers, some ear plugs and eye shades. Always works for me.

keep moving your legs, get up and walk around,a long flight can be dangerous,it can promote thrombosis. You could take a little book to read,or do crosswords.Have a good time.

Buy or borrow a personal DVD player and a boxed set of a tv series you haven't seen. Take magazines and a good book or two, and a games console if you're into that sort of thing. You'd be surprised how fast ten hours actually goes - I fly home to the UK twice a year and it's 8 hours, then a stop to refuel, then another 7.5 hours, then a change of plane for a final 1.5 hour flight. Phew. Takes 24 hours door to door. You might surprise yourself and get a nap or two along the way anyway.

Most long haul flights have a screen on the back of seats were you can watch films, listen to music and play games, that will pass a fair bit of time, take a good book to read or maybe your iPod with your favourite tracks on, hope your not too bored and have a lovely holiday.

never mind the dvd's. audio books really work. they also help me to relax and doze. then I just reset to hear what i have missed.

get something that you want to read but have never bother with.

I travel on long-haul flights regularly and still can't fully relax either. I would never leave home without my CD player and lots of CDs and batteries, first and foremost. I also carry lots of reading material, whether its my favourite novel, magazines or newspapers, or free leaflets. Take puzzle books or sudoku with you if you like puzzles, or PSP or Gameboy, etc if you prefer a gadget. Some long-haul flights offer newspapers on the plane for free, so do ask for one. Some inflight magazines are pretty good as well.

Hope this helps and bon voyage! :-)
