No! I never had mine go off at any medal detector. If it did, then I would have to show it to them, I guess?

Um, well, I'm assuming that you wouldn't have to explain it and that it wouldn't go off.

I've been through both airport and prison security. The airport, you don't have to take any piercings out, and they don't go off.

The prison, the girl I went with has bars stuck in her back and her ears and probably her vagina too, but she didn't have to take any out, and they didn't go off when we went through the metal detector.

well your belly ring, earrings, tongue ring, or other jewels don't cause the metal detectors to go off so i wouldn't worry about it

Just take it out and there will be no problem. I guess you do not remember the girl who had the same thing done to her nipple and they made her remove it. It was national headline news.

Why would your vagina be pierced? Did you sit on something sharp. Only if you put something metal in the hole and I don't think you'd want to do that. It would be quite painful. Why would someone want to multilate herself like that?

Simply state you have a genital piercing. They may very well have you disrobe in a room with a same sex security person to verify these facts.

I had a different sort of embarassment going through an airport. I have an ileostomy and the paste I used around the stoma set the detector off, it also set off the hand held detector. Yes, I had to prove thats what it was. But this was shortly after someone smuggled a bomb on a plane in their sneaker.

It probably wouldn't go off, but if it did, just tell 'em you've got it pierced. If you've GOT a genital piercing, you probably aren't too shy about it. Just enjoy the embarassed look on the security guards face when you tell them!

The obvious answer is, remove the piercing before going through security.

If you remove enough metal, you should be able to pass the walk-through metal detector without setting it off. However, if you go to secondary screening (the wands) they will find it; those metal-detectors will alarm on the foil from a gum wrapper.

In the event you need to explain it, simply request a private screening. A female agent will be screening you at this point, and she will conduct you to a private screening area, where a second agent will be present to keep her honest. Here, you can tell them what the problem is in privacy, and do what needs to be done to clear the checkpoint.

The jewelry worn down there is probably not any bigger than one of your stud earrings. It won't set it off.
