yes an adult has to purchase your ticket and a flight attendant accompanies you to your next connecting flight(if you have one) to make sure you get there....they do this if you are under 17

Mr Frewster
sure you can.. jusy make sure you have a pilot... or a parachute.

i travelled with my sister(then 15), when i was 12, from heathrow to cape town.

(just a shame they didn't drop my sister off at the safari !)

Yes you can, but an adult has to buy you a ticket and possibly check you into the airport. You also have to have a valid state issued ID card.

Jonathan W
Yes, I'm 15 and have flown alone. You need an adult to purchase your ticket and sign a permission form. Most airlines have unaccompanied minor programs that help you get to your flight and make sure you don't miss it. Airport staff escort you to and from your flight and will take you anywhere else you need to go (restaurant, store, restroom). These programs are optional, but I would highly reccomend them.

I'm a former Flight Attendant and I had passengers as young as age 5 onboard.

Check the airline that you will be flying and see if they require you to be an "unaccompanied minor". This is a program for younger passengers who are not flying with adults. Someone has to sign for you at check-in, where an airline employee will take you to the gate. At your destination, another employee will help you get your bags and stay with you until the people meeting you arrive. They will also have to sign some papers to confirm that you're going home with the right party.

Onboard, the Flight Attendants will be aware of you but wont babysit you or treat you any differently. If it's an international flight, they will fill out your paperwork and keep your documents. We used to know who was flying as a "UM" and simply check on them more often.

If you have a connection, someone will escort you over to your gate and make sure you get onboard alright. Also, if something goes wrong, like a delay, they will take care of you.

Many of my passengers were the children of divorced parents traveling between the two. The kids often fly this way until they're 16 or 17 since they are technically not under the control of either parent while in transit. Also, many teens are made "UM"s because they are flying with younger siblings.

This service does have a fee and often there are restrictions (like no late-night departures) but talk to your parents and perhaps agreeing to fly like this will make them more likely to agree to this trip.

Good luck!

P.S. Perhaps look into getting a pilot's license later on ;)

Some how I really don't think so,you can't even drive a car at that age by yourself,
Haha I just read your Q again,sorry I thought you meant fly a plain,Duh!!!!!
Ummmm,I'm not to sure now,sorry but atleast I had a laugh 2 myself,haha

Flatstick
It probably depends on which state you live in, but when I was a kid several of my friends had pilots licenses and could fly alone at 14 or 15. You had to be 16 to get a license to drive a car, but no age requiement for flying.

Each airline are different to how old a passerager can be to fly alone, so its best to check on various websites before booking a ticket, it can also depend where your flying too. Good luck and happy flying

Remote control one only me thinks ?

Not even a glider

Sal*UK
you need to check with the actual airline you are planning to fly with.

entertainer
as soon as you turn 12 you are considered an adult on a flight. You will need someone over 18 to book the flight but you will not need anyone with you to fly. you might want to ask the airline to keep an eye on you if you are uneasy about flying alone but if not you will be left alone.
