Officially, you can take any legal substance in your checked baggage. If the legal drinking age is 21, then carrying alcohol at age 20 is considered illegal.
Basically it will depend on the legal drinking age in the country you are travelling to and from. As long as you are within these restrictions, you should be fine.
In Oz the legal age is 18, so a 19 year old Australian can drink at home, but will not be permitted alcohol in a country where the legal age is 21.
Unofficially, most travellers acting responsibly do not get asked for proof of age in relation to alcohol.
Word of caution, never ever take alcohol into a 'dry zone', where no alcohol is permitted.

All of these answers are wrong. Alcohol is considered a hazardous material and you need to check with your carrier for their acceptance of hazardous materials. This is actually governed by the FAA. Check out this web site for exact specifications of what each passenger is allowed.

i don't think this would be a problem seeing that they sell liquors at the airport. When my sister and i were coming from Jamaica we brought rum our my hands and the flight attendant just asked us to place it under my seats. so yeah you can bring alcohol on the plane with you plus you are over 18 so it will be OK.

In the United States, you would be considered underage...and could get in some major trouble--especially at the airport.

Dont do it! The Airport is not the place you wanna get caught under-age drinking!!! If you are brining the bottle for a gift, or whatever, technically you would only have to be 18, but I guess it depends on the officer who checks your bag!

Young At Heart
No, you just have to declare (I believe) no more than two bottles. Some airlines will require you to sign a piece of paper for their protection.

It depends on where you are traveling to and from. If you are just traveling withing the same country then it should be no problem and you won't even have to mention it. If you are traveling from one country to another then you will have to claim it at customs if asked if you have anything to claim. Then you will have to pay a small tax.
