I'm curious about how others feel about the family kicked off the plane with the toddler.?

How would you feel as one of the other passengers with the plane running 15 minutes late? I'm torn on this. On the one hand, why should all the other people have to keep waiting till the family gets their child under control, and on the other hand...

Ah good point! The point about not only that plane being delayed, but the possibility of other planes being delayed as well. Also, people have to make connections at other airlines... yeah, I think the airline did the right thing.

I don't think the airline owed them a darned thing! The kid was inconsolable? Why? Spoiled? Sick? I think the former. We shouldn't have to suffer the screams of a young tyrant because the parents don't know how to set limits or pacify their child. Tough deal for them maybe, but it shouldn't be for the rest of us.

Legally Blonde
AirTran did the right thing! I've seen this happen b/f and it's a pain to everyone on board. Either get your kids under control or get off the plane!

kudos to the airline!!! Especially in this day and age.The whining little child was a disturbance on a plane. If an adult was throwing a tantrum they would have been asked to leave too.

On the other hand, there's fingers.
Haha.
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

I'd be pissed if I had to wait but you have to expect delays when you fly.
Then again, I'd be pissed if a toddler was out of control and ruined the peacefulness of my flight.

The airline DID reimburse the family. I wasn't there obviously but the kid apparently refused to sit in her seat.... which is a requirement that all people do before the plane can take off, even if you're 3. If an adult did that, they would be taken off the plane and NOT be reimbursed (and probably would be arrested). Not to mention the fact that the kid was probably making everyone else on the plane miserable. The airline does have a business to run...

I think the family came out of the whole thing on top. They got their money back and free plane tickets. If I was on that plane I would be glad they got put off the plane. Who want to spend hours on a plane with a kid like that. That could not have been my child.

quita
I think air train was right for kicking them off the plane it would have been different if they didn't get a refund and another flight the next day why delay everone else for someone else's problem

AA
Im glad they got kicked off the plane...too many people with kids think we should change our lifestyle to accomodate their's...and that just isnt our choice, as it is theirs.
I am glad they got kicked off, and I will gladly fly that airline, as those people said they will never fly it again.
God bless the stewardess with the backbone to do what is right.

In my opinion, I think the airline did the right thing, ensuring that all passengers are buckled in properly and safe prior to take off. If the airline hadn't acted when it had, it could have potentially delayed other flights as well.

On the other hand, I think a lot of passengers FREAK OUT at the sight of little ones and need to be a little more understanding...for the child and the family. It takes a villlage to raise a child. I think we forget that sometimes.

Karen
I think the airline did a fine job. It isn't like they didn't get their money back. Probably more consideration than they deserved. If it had been an adult acting the same way, they wouldn't have gotten their money back...they would be dam lucky not to be in jail.
It is about darn time someone stood up for EVERYONE ELSE. I hate it when kids make other people's life miserable. If their parents want to put up with it, let them drive the little brat wherever they are going. I hate it when we go out to eat and my children are sitting there eating while everyone else's children are running around rampant. Believe me... my children got their little A$$E$ spanked if/when they acted like that. They still would. They learned very early that I will not tolerate in any way being embarrassed in a store, restaurant, or anywhere else in public. If they do, we will immediately stop what we are doing and go to the car. Immediately after that will follow the spanking. I do not take them out when they are tired, sick, or cranky. I don't expect them to act like they are. It works for me.

C_Millionaire
i think that hey had time to try and keep their kid quiet. and when that's the only reason the flight is running late, they should get kicked off. you wouldn't tolerate it for any other reason. there is always the chance that given 2 or 3 minutes the kid would have shut up, but given that they had had a while to shut the kid up, that's not very likely. a ticket isn't a license to make the flight wait forever, no matter what your reason

Here we go again. Someone can't control thier brat and someone else who can't control thier brat wants to feel sorry for brats that are spoiled to the core.. Spare that rod and this is the product you produce. Keep it up all you do gooders and accusers of child abuse. You don't have a clue but just listen to some child phyco doctor nut that never had kids. I say, if you don't make them mind at that age, you are the abuser and some day you will come to know this when you get that call that he is in jail or worse.

Ya i know the family should have way more control of their little child and everybody should not have to wait, there are some people out their that can not be late, and they mean business. the airline should have taken them off after 5 minutes of non-stop crying

Since Im a flight attendant I recently came up with this sitiation where two babies were crying really loud and woke ALL the passengers sleeping. Since we were already up to 30,000 ft. me and my flight crew couldn't like really kick the family off the plane. Instead my flight crew and I tried our best to comfort the babies and asked the parents if the babies had any health issues and ithe crying is normal or abnormal. Anyways we landed like 20 minutes later on a 2 hour flight so at least we didn't have too hear the crying through the entire flight.

If I was a passenger let's just say I would be kind of pissed off but I wouldn't really blame the family- cause you cant really control babies. If we were on the ground I would pretty much want the family kicked off.

I think Air Tran did the right thing. Actually I think they were too nice to the family. Not only did they get all their money back, but they got free 3 round trip tickets in addition.

phillygirl513
I'm EMBARRASSED for the parents for being so stupid and not being able to control their 3 yr old kid. I can control mine!!!!!!!! The parents should be embarrasse to even make a big deal about this. I bet if they were the other people and didn't have kids they'd be frustrated and want the child kicked off also.

YOU are the parent control your child.
Thats whats wrong with this world and why its going to sh*t!

Ironically enough,we will be traveling with our toddler to Florida this weekend. I give the airline the thumbs up. The mother said she was mortified for being kicked off. I would be mortified had I stayed on and had to sit with all of those passengers who were witness to my child's misbehavior. It would've been a very uncomfortable 3 hours in the air!! I wouldn't wait for the crew to ask me to leave,I'd be packing up after no more than 10 minutes. I also think it was very generous of the airline to compensate the family as they did.

aaron a
i wouldve kicked the little twerp off too

Mamma angel
I too, am torn. I hate to be kept waiting but the parents needed the opportunity to calm the child down. Perhaps if the airline staff would have given them 5 minutes and then everyone left them alone they may have been able to calm the child down.

Why do people reproduce in the first place?? Little brats. If you as a parent cannot control your toddler, then perhaps you need to drag them in the bathroom and spank the hell out of them instead of giving them "time-out". It's like the parents that have screaming children in restaurants and instead of taking them outside to calm them down they just ignore them and let them ruin everyone elses meals. I'm glad the airline kicked them off. Crappy parents deserve crappy treatment. They should have an airline specifically for breeders and let everyone else enjoy their flight in peace, without your seat being kicked, stuff being thrown, ear-piercing screams, dirty diaper smell...........
