I have a few questions....I know about that 3 ounce rule with the liquids and was wondering if that was only for if you were putting them in your carry on? Also how many carry on bags are you allowed to have. I was hoping that I could bring my laptop but I also wanted to bring a few other things to do in a bag. Does the airport go through you rluggage. How ealry should I arrive at the airport? I would really appriciate it if you could awnser any of my question...I am really nerevous about flying.
Additional Details
How many carry on bags can you have? Does a laptop count?

the rule for liquids is only for carry on items

you can usually have 1 carry on bag and 1 personal item which could be a purse, or laptop in a bag.

Security may search your luggage but probably won't they advise not to lock your suitcase because if they decide to search it they will cut your lock off.

you should try to arrive 2 hours before your flight, this gives you time to check in and check your baggage, then go through security, and be there with time to spare for boarding the airplane.

Don't be nervous, thousands of people fly everyday, its safer than driving and all the rules and regulations are pretty clear.

Check out this website for more tips.

I fly every week for business so here a little information on these topics.

The three ounces only apply to carry on items. You need to have all the 3 oz containers fit in one quart size ziplock bag. These limits are per passenger so if there are additional people, they get their own bag.

You allowed 2 carry on bags. This would be a bag and what they call a "personal item". The personal item is a laptop bag or purse. Purse count as one item so if people are flying with one you can put it inside another back for getting on the plane.

The airport will flag a few bags. If they do, they will put a sticker on it. Do not lock your bags because they need to able to open them. At some airports, they xray your bag right in front of you.

As far as arriving at the airport, it really depends on which one. I would recommend 90 minutes for a first time flyer at most airports so you can get accustomed to the airport and get through security. Slip on shoes are a great thing for that since everyone had to take off their shoes to go through the xray.

Some airports have a puffer machine in addition to the xray. You go in and it shoots air around you. Not every airport has these machines.

The liquids rule applies to liquids you bring into the security area with you. You can buy water or something inside security and bring it on the plane now.

First, congratulations on taking the first step to being a world traveler! Second, the 3-ounce rule only pertains to carry-on luggage or bags-that means whatever is in your purse, backpack, etc. that will be going ON the plane with you and not UNDER the plane when you check in at the ticket counter. Anything that goes in the luggage under the plane (shampoo, etc.) can be full-sized. As for the 3-ounce rule, please be aware that the bottle itself must not be larger than 3 ounces (a 5 ounce bottle 1/2 full will be rejected) and that all your 3-ounce bottles must fit into one quart-size plastic bag. If they don't they'll make you throw it out.

Third, it depends on the flight (national/international), size of the plane, and length of the flight as to how many bags you are allowed. I highly suggest calling your airline carrier and asking. One-two carry-ons (one bag plus laptop) under a specfic size plus 2 suitcases underneath that weigh no more than 25 kilos each might be allowed for your flight. Again, it is best to contact the airline directly. I normally have my backpack and purse with me on the plane (purse fits in backpack with at least two paperback novels to read, contact lens solution + glasses, mini toothbrush and toothpaste). I prefer to stick everything else under the plane.

It is a GOOD thing that airport security does go through bags-but they do random checks after all bags are screened by x-ray machines. I do suggest buying a lead pouch at a camera store to protect all film before and after pictures have been taken. They will ask you to either turn on your laptop for them or tell you that they can screen it safely.

As this is the busy season for travelers, you should arrive at airport at least 90 minutes ahead of your flight time for national flights, 3 hours ahead of time for International. You never know how long the lines are going to be and if there's a problem, you're better off having more time than no time. Hence why bringing a book to read, IPOD, etc is key.

Lastly, try and be relaxed for your flight. Flying is sort of like being on a bus except you have assigned seats and the views are much better. :-)

Good luck to you and safe travels!

im a kid and i have travelled many times so i think i can answer some of your questions.

my parents took care of the whole liquid thing, so i can't be sure about that.

I'm pretty sure you are only aloud one carry on bag per passenger but i dont think purses count (that im not sure on)

if you don't have seats on the plane, i suggest getting at the airport 3 hours before, just so you have time. if you do have everything set i would get there about 1 1/2 to 2 hours before because there are a lot of things you have to do and sometimes the lines are really long.

the airport looks at your carry on stuff. i'm not sure about america, but in canada you put it through a little scanner thing and it like takes an xray of your carry on. they would probably do that with luggage too, but in canada at my airport they take your luggage when you check in.

hope i helped!

You can bring your laptop. You'll have to take it out of the bag at security. You won't be able to use it during takeoff or landing, but you will be able to use it at the airport and in the air.

The airline can tall you how many bags you can bring on. Usually a purse plus for a woman, and one bag + a personal item for a man (laptop bag and book, briefcase and small bag). Space is tight, so don't overload yourself - you'll only irritate the other passengers.

You'll go through security (TSA) before you get to your gate. They will take any water bottles you might have. You're right about the 3 oz rule - that's only for carry-on. Also, they want all of that stuff in a clear bag, like a Ziploc (no one knows why). You'll also have to take your shoes off, so wear something easy.

Relax, you'll be fine. Have a good trip.

No liquids in carry-ons, but you may have them in checked luggage. You may bring 2 (sometimes 3 depending on the airline) carry-on bags. When you bring a laptop, you must take it out of the case and place it in a seperate bin when you put it through the x-ray machine. They MAY go through your carry-on if they find something like a knife or anything that looks like it. Not even nose hair scissors are allowed, I think even fingernail clippers are forbidden. Do not lock your checked luggage, as they may cut the locks for random inspections. Although scissors, clippers and whatever else can be stored in checked luggage.

Get to the airprot 2 hours early for checkin and security checks. Earlier if it is a large airport during a busy time. Also, when going through the security checkpoint, be prepared to take off your shoes. You have to put those through the x-ray machine as well. No joke.

Different airlines have different rules about carry ons. Go on the airline's web site, or call them.

guppypatrol
be there at least 1 hour early, 1 carry on 30lbs i think, they wiill check everything, be prepared for that, shoes, belt, hats ect must come off, wear clean socks, it's still the best way to travel, i put up with it and i guess so do millions of others, be safe and enjoy

The last time I flew I took three carry ons( laptops, purses and anything bigger than a laptop all count!) They must be able to fit in either the overhead compartment or under you seat. A good way to find that out before you leave is to fit the carry ons (all of them!) under a kitchen chair ..if they fit and come up to halfway the height of under the chair then they should be good to go.There are also "measuring boxes" at the airport as you check in, but if you live close to the airport you can measure ahead of time.Arrive at least TWO hours before departure and expect either delays or a long wait. And, yes, THEY DO CHECK both carry ons AND checked baggage, (they usually put a note inside the checked baggage to say they did so, but don't get nervous, you would be surprised what other people pack!) If you are really nervous .. don't be, you can sit in the aisle seat if you don't want to look out the window. I always get the window seat because I get nervous if I can't see where I'm going and it's sort of like watching T.V. real, but not too real. Oh, and don't forget the Dramamine!(for motion sickness)! Good Luck!

Arrive at least two hour before your flight. I believe you can bring on at least two carry on bags. Try to stuff as much stuff in your laptop bag as possible. I'm not sure about the liquids thing since I haven't flown after they started that. And the airport may randomly go through your luggage, but I have never had that happen.

hardwaredude65
The air port goes through everything. you should probably get there like an hour and a half early cuz it takes a wile.

i really do think its only with carry on luggage because about the thing last year because they did it with their carry on luggage.you are allowed to bring...i think its 2 bags and one carry on luggage.(not including purses, ect.) the airport only goes through your luggage if when they just pick random people to search through your carry on(which is really weird) and also they do an xray thingy on all your bags. i would arrive at the airport at least and hour and a half because you have to get your tickets and go through check in and get your bags on the plane and get to your gate which your plane leaves from.hope you have fun on your trip!!and if you have anymore questions feel free to email me @ nicole_ann_sowell@yahoo.com.BYE!
