I'm flying for the first time in about 7 years... What should I expect at the airport?

Expect long lines; arrive at airport at least two hours before departure. It is okay to bring your DVD player and also knitting needles. You should not, however, carry onboard any more than you will need in flight. Check everything else. Any liquids/gels have to be 3oz. or less and be placed in a single clear plastic bag no larger than 1qt size. Follow all these steps and you'll be just fine. Have a great flight!

Expect VERY strict security. Dont bring any liquids on the plane with you -hand gels,make-up ect. enless it is 3 fl oz or less!

OK you can bring your knitting needle, and your DVD player. you should arrive at least and hour and a half early. be prepared for the worst. i would suggest that you ware flip flops, or shoes that you can easily slip on and off. if you have any meddle in your body due to surgery you will be checked because you WILL go off when going through security. Do not put any scissors in your carry on bag, because they will take them. Oh and do not put things like sunscreen in your carry on, because they will take those to.
As for your checked bag, they will go through it. Once time i had my bag all nice and organized, and when i got it back everything was thrown around. I was also missing my tooth brush. I would not put anything to valuable in your checked bag (designer purses things like this) because my friends aunt had a Louis Vuitton stolen from her bag (the people sell them). So i would put things like this in your carry on.

The first thing that you should be expecting is the security check will surely throw away all your liquids more than 100ml. So don't bring any. Another thing is expect long queuing line if your taking Cathay Pacific Airways in the check-in counter.

Arrive early, don't pack liquids unless they are your meds and have a prescription label on them. DVD player is good to go too but I think that you should put the knitting needles in to your checked baggage my partner was pull aside for a CD packed in her carry on in a strange position for the x-ray machine operator. Expect long lines and keep some water with you until you go to security then toss it in the garbage and get another one on the secure side of the terminal. Check with your carrier some destinations/airlines allow liquids to be purchased on the secure side to be brought on the plane.

DON"T bring a ticking clock in your bag, take the batteries out. they will think its a bomb.

International Flight require 3 Hrs before check in time. Flts are closed off one hour before dep as a security measure, so pls check in on time.

Be careful of what you pack in your carry on- absolutely no liquid eg- hand cream, perfumes, aerosol etc. also not pointed or sharp metallic items such as - nail clippers, file etc.

At security check point - you may be required to take off your shoes- careful with those smelly feet..

Longer lines are expected at check in - summer time travel
