Relax and go for it. I used to be like you when I had to take a long distance flight...until I met a friend in the street and was telling her about how worried I was to fly blablabla...
...and she said......"For all you know, you might cancel your holiday to stay safely here and during that time you get run over by a bus!" .....and I thought ....How true! and flew........and then went again after a couple of years.. |

now i just got back from texas w/a girl on my church who was really afraid of flying. i wouldnt worring about it because the security guards r the only thing that i consider really good but a pain in the neck. take deep breaths, have something when taking off and landing and when in air. Even though u said it was mainly 9/11 the security people will check everyone just to make sure no one suspecious gets on the plane.
Just relax and enjoy the flight! I fly every month |

If it's easier for you, try falling asleep while your plane is taxiing to the runway. The pressure in the cabin is perfect for sleeping right before takeoff, and you won't notice the takeoff, if you're worried about that.
Try taking deep, controlled breaths when you settle onto the plane. This will prevent hyperventilation in case of panic attacks and will allow oxygen to your brain, preventing you from passing out and hitting your head. :) |

Just breath. Then you'll forget that you are aboard. Try to sleep, read, or watch the onboard movie.
Don't worry! Have a nice flight! |

you'll be fine. I fly twice a week.
remember that everyone is checked before boarding the plane and I am sure no terrorist wants to go to Canada |

Since 9/11 airport security is a lot tighter than it was previously. All airports do their utmost to ensure the security of all the passengers and flights.
As for getting nervous, try to relax and sleep on the flight. I find that once you are asleep you don't panic at all. May be bring a small pillow that you find comfortable to use to help you sleep on the plane. |
