Engine noises in the cabin are usually minimal and hardly ear rattling. There are noise regulations that the FAA has to enforce and etc... the sensation you get from descending is a bit of a tickler, but it's just your organs feeling lighter because the weaker gravity. Look at it as an amusement ride, it's statistically the safest one you can be on. Good luck and you and your little one enjoy the flight !!! |

You'll be fine it is the safest form of transportation. Try not to show your fear to your child. The best is to look at the flight attendants and realise that they do this for a living. They should relax you.
Have a safe flight |

It may be the safest form of travel but if given the choice of being in a plane crash or car crash I know which I would choose. |

Just think to yourself, would the pilot fly the plane if it wasn't safe? |

Anyone who says they aren't even a little bit nervous when flying is a liar. We all feel some level of discomfort.
I fly quite a lot and I find it quite calming just to think of the hundreds of thousands of flights carrying millions of passengers that take off every single day all round the world...and how rare it is for something to go wrong. On top of that...even on aircraft where there is an incident of some kind, your chances of surviving it are still way up in the nineties!!
You already know about the old 'safest way to travel' cliche, but it is true. Try to envisage your feeling of anxiety as exactly the same feeling that others get when they are thrilled!! Difficult perhaps...but that is what it is!!! |

Don't be scared, NOT ONE PERSON in history has died flying, that's how safe it is, its the ultimate for of safe transport.
Mind you people have died from hitting the ground, burning in an aircraft fuselage, lack of oxygen etc, etc.....
Have a beer/(cup of tea) chill out and don't worry about what might happen, as the saying goes....."enjoy life, live it in the fast lane and IF your lucky enough to get a warning a big truck is coming straight at you, get the hint before your unable to jump out of the way in time".
PS For any other transport fear, simply substitute your fear for flying in line 1...........
PPS Above saying attributed to ......ME |

Its natural to be scared when your flying. There are many things that could happen, but you can't think about that. You could be in accident on your way to the airport. or you could have a heart attack. The later not being likely but you see what I'm saying. You can be scared of things but you can't let it worry you. I'm sure your two year old is exicited to fly for the first time. He probably has no worries in the World. Try not to take your fears and stress your kid, let them enjoy the expierence that way when they grow up flying will not be an issue. Its just another means of Transportation to them, and that is what is should be to you. Accidents happend more on the Road than in the air. You just hear about a plan crash no matter where it happend but you don't hear about all the Car accidents. Beside we have been flying for years and our technology advances help reduce accidents more and mored each year. If you still need help just close you eyes during take off and sing or coun't in your head, it will help keep you mind off what is really going on. I hope this helps you feel a little more at ease and can enjoy your flying expierence. |

When you get to the destination airport: Remove your shoes and socks and walk around in the arrivals lounge on the carpet and make fists with your toes. |

Ask your doctor for a couple of Valiums for the flight. |

Many people have a fear of flying.I can assure you it is the safest mode of transport available.Noises are only made before take off and are perfectly normal.Once in the air the engine noise is minimal.Descent is gradual, not sudden.I guess this is your first time,so be brave.Once you have done it once you will be used to flying.I regularly fly the 12 hours between Hong Kong and Heathrow and just find it boring!..Lots of luck. |
